Chapter 191 - Chapter 191: What Just Happened?

Gu Yue moved like a magician unveiling a performance—fireballs, wind blades, and ice spikes rained down in waves, covering the mech in a storm of elemental attacks.

Hidden among the storm of ice spikes, a single ice spear twisted mid-air, arching around the frontal energy shield before stabbing directly into the arm of the mech that was preparing to fire a soul-guided laser. The spear shattered, but a wave of biting cold spread instantly, freezing that arm solid.

At the same time, a figure had somehow made it to the rear of the yellow mech. A dagger pierced cleanly into the joint seam, slicing like a butcher filleting meat. Although mechs had shielding, this yellow one had only activated its front-facing defense systems to conserve energy—big mistake.

Just then, a loud rumble erupted from behind. The purple mech that had been chasing Gu Yue paused, its attention instinctively pulled toward the sudden commotion behind it.

'What just happened?'

He couldn't worry about Gu Yue anymore—he had to go help his teammates.

But he forgot something crucial. Besides Gu Yue, there were still three more students standing idle.

Time for Baozi to shine.

Two mini baozi flew through the air—tossed by Xu Lizhi—toward Tang Wulin and Xu Xiaoyan.

Golden and silver light burst beneath the purple mech's feet as vines and chains wrapped tightly around its frame.

The enforcer inside the purple mech was utterly stunned by the sudden onslaught.

At the same time, the other two mechs were already down. The whole fight had started quickly—and ended even faster.

In terms of raw strength, the six students weren't necessarily superior to the three mech pilots. After all, the mechs hadn't even reached their full combat capacity. But the kids had one major advantage: their youth. Their age lulled the enforcers into complacency.

After all, who would expect a bunch of teenagers to attack mechs?

The two yellow mechs were the most pitiful—neither had even fully deployed their shields or launched a single attack before being disabled.

"Who the hell are you people?" the enforcer in the purple mech yelled, equal parts enraged and shocked. He didn't dare take rash actions now—he couldn't even control the mech anymore.

"We are—"

Yue Zhengyu was about to respond when Gu Yue held out a hand to stop her.

"No time for chit-chat. We need to leave. More mechs are on their way."

The others followed her lead and quickly disappeared from the scene.

At that moment, several figures sprinted out from the Spirit Pagoda building, rushing toward the area. At the same time, a dozen more mechs flew in overhead, speeding toward the disturbance.

The incoming reinforcements were met with a curious sight: three disabled mechs, but all their pilots were unharmed and already standing outside their machines.

Mechs landed one after another. Spirit Pagoda staff rushed over to question the enforcers about what had happened.

Meanwhile, Gu Yue and the group took side roads to slip away. After running for over ten minutes, they finally ducked into a nearby drink shop and sat down.

Just then, the front door opened with a chill breeze, and Wu Zhangkong stepped in.

Without a word, he walked over and sat at their table.

"Teacher Wu," everyone greeted respectfully.

His lips twitched faintly.

Xie Xie cautiously asked, "Teacher Wu… does this mean we passed?"

"Yes," Wu Zhangkong replied simply.

A collective sigh of relief swept through the group. "That's good."

Wu Zhangkong turned his head to look out the window, ignoring the group—but Gu Yue caught a glimpse of a rare glimmer of amusement in his usually icy eyes.

'Did he just smile? Did Teacher Wu almost smile?'

Actually, Wu Zhangkong was equal parts amused and exasperated.

These little monsters were simply too bold. They had dared to stir up trouble right at the Spirit Pagoda in Heaven Dou City. Their calm under pressure was remarkable—most adults couldn't compare. Wu Zhangkong couldn't help but feel a mix of admiration and worry: 'If they don't grow up to be great heroes, they might end up as great villains…'

After some drinks and Xu Lizhi's recovery buns, everyone felt rejuvenated. Following Gu Yue's suggestion, they bought new outfits with local flair and changed out of their uniforms. Then they headed to the soul train station.

But when they arrived, they were stunned.

The station was temporarily shut down.

Following the recent terror attack, the atmosphere in Heaven Dou was tense. A shutdown was expected—but there was no telling when it would reopen.

BANG!

A soul car roared out from a side street. Gu Yue was behind the wheel, flooring the accelerator.

Although she'd never driven before, Xie Xie had—so he sat beside her giving instructions while she learned on the go. Efficient… but terrifying.

The rest of the group were nearly scared out of their wits.

'At this speed, one wrong turn and we're roadkill.'

Luckily, Heaven Dou's roads were wide—closer to highways—so they could speed freely.

Meanwhile, back at the Spirit Pagoda.

Over a dozen high-ranking officials, ranging from middle-aged to elderly, sat in the main conference room. On a large screen, surveillance footage of the earlier fight played in full resolution—six youths taking down three mechs.

As the video ended, the expressions on the council members' faces shifted from disbelief to embarrassment.

The head elder snorted, "Let's set aside the matter of who those kids are. I only want to know—how the hell did our enforcement squad get this sloppy? We just had a terrorist attack on the soul train. Reports confirm that an evil soul master was involved. I've already dispatched people to investigate. If this is the state of our enforcers, they might as well go home and eat rice!"

The scolding silenced the room.

"The enforcement unit is hereby placed on orange alert. Internal review begins immediately. Not just these three—everyone from the captain down will write reports on their failures. Training intensity will double."

"Yes, sir!"

The meeting adjourned, finally easing the tension.

But the elder remained, along with a familiar middle-aged man—one Gu Yue had met before.

"Did Heavenly Phoenix Douluo say anything about this?" the elder asked.

"Nothing specific," the man replied. "She just said we should handle it ourselves. She won't interfere. Should we bring those kids back?"

"You want to humiliate us further?" The elder's voice turned cold. "This whole matter is to be buried. Not a word to the public. Not even a report."

"Understood… Young people today are really something."

The elder cast him a glance. "You mentioned their exam involves ten cities?"

The man nodded. "That's what she said."

The elder's tone turned light, "Keep things quiet. I doubt we'll be the only ones embarrassed."

The man's face twitched. 'Tower Master, what kind of mindset is that…?'

The elder rose and walked to the window, gazing outside.

"We've had peace for too long. It's time for some turbulence to remind us how fragile that peace is. Only five years left…"

Back in the car—

"Want to talk about something? Battle armor, maybe?" someone suggested.

Gu Yue smiled, "We finally left the academy. Can't we talk about something else? Let's each share a dream. Xinglan, you go first. What's your dream?"
