Thinking about it, he really did save sixty thousand. With no better option, the male student reluctantly handed over the money, bought the two buns, and shoved them into his mouth.
As expected, Xu Lizhi's buns took effect immediately. He felt as light as a feather, his blood surging through his veins—his entire body brimming with seemingly endless power.
"I'm going for it!" the boy shouted, accelerating like a rocket toward the academy gates.
His speed was incredible. As a sensitive-attack type Battle Soul Master accepted into Shrek Academy, his speed was naturally top-tier.
His legs thickened without warning. With one powerful kick, he launched himself like an arrow. It was truly astonishing.
But at that moment, he suddenly felt a weight slam down on him. A yellow glow inexplicably landed on his body, bringing him to a halt. In the next instant, lines of starlight descended from above and wrapped around him like chains.
"You're ganging up on me?" the boy wailed.
"We're here to rob—oh no, I mean borrow money. Who said anything about a one-on-one?" Ye Xinglan's sword hilt thumped against his shoulder, knocking him flat. The icy tip of her blade hovered before his face. "Will you lend it or not?"
"I'll lend it!"
Another hundred thousand gone…
Ye Xinglan counted the money, sheathed the Star God Sword, and said, "You may go."
"Wait a second," she suddenly called out.
The boy turned back, furious. "What now?"
"Which class are you in? What's your name?"
"Why do you want to know?"
"So we can pay you back," Ye Xinglan replied casually.
"You'll really pay me back?" the boy blinked.
Ye Xinglan frowned. "Why do you talk so much? Just answer and stop wasting our time."
"Class One, second-year… name's Xia Lekong." With his pride in tatters, he turned and fled.
Meanwhile, Gu You headed straight for Shrek City's high-speed train station. After forging a piece of Thousand Refined first-grade metal, he'd earned over ten thousand credits.
Tickets on Soul Train railways were only checked before boarding. Gu You casually strolled through the station and examined the departure schedule.
His plan was to head first to Heaven Dou City. As a large metropolis, it would be easy to find opponents with spirit power five levels above his own. From Heaven Dou to Mingdu, there were frequent rail lines. It also let him bypass a mountain range, cutting his travel time.
Check-in. Boarding.
The Soul Train soon launched, heading straight for Heaven Dou.
"Agh, we just missed it… Good thing another train to Heaven Dou leaves in half an hour," Xu Lizhi, Ye Xinglan, and Gu Yue arrived at the station just as Gu You's train departed.
"As per the rules, we go our separate ways now," Ye Xinglan said to Gu Yue, raising a fist.
Gu Yue smiled faintly. "Let's see who gets back first."
The Soul Train accelerated rapidly and soon reached high-speed cruising mode.
From Shrek City to Heaven Dou City was about a 90-minute ride…

The train conductor stifled a yawn. Just then, her soul communicator buzzed to life.
"Conductor, conductor! Please come to Car Five immediately! Armed criminals are hijacking the train. We need you now!"
Her face paled. A train hijacking? That was a catastrophe for a Soul Train.
Just months earlier, an incident in the western provinces ended in disaster—a Soul Train exploded, killing over five hundred people. It shocked the entire Federation.
And years ago, a series of trains mysteriously vanished mid-journey, leaving citizens terrified. Everyone still remembered those cases vividly.
But the conductor didn't panic. Despite her pale face, she calmly issued orders. "All train personnel, listen up. This is an emergency. Open the weapons locker immediately. Arm yourselves and head to Car Five. Keep calm and do not alarm passengers in other cars. Prevent panic at all costs."
She stepped into her office, opened a secure cabinet with a key, and pulled out a soul tool handgun. She fitted a headset to her communicator to avoid broadcasting her voice.
"I'm heading there now. What's the situation?"
"Conductor, there are six assailants. We don't know how they smuggled in soul ray rifles, but they've got heavy firepower—four pulse rifles, one portable soul cannon, and a bundled soul bomb attached to the car. It could go off at any moment. We've got ten security staff on site, but we're outgunned."
Cold sweat ran down her back. 'Security screening… how the hell did they get a bomb on board?'
The situation was dire—bombs and heavy weaponry in a sealed, high-speed train with no station stops. A battle here could mean a catastrophic derailment.
She made a snap decision. "Tell the control room—when I reach Car Five, cut off Cars Six through Sixteen from the rest of the train. Operate them independently. Has the emergency distress signal been sent to HQ?"
"It has. Conductor, you…"
"We can only pray now." She pulled out her wallet as she walked, opened it with trembling hands.
Inside was a photo of a chubby, adorable infant—just a few months old.
Her eyes reddened. She kissed the photo gently, tucked the wallet back into her chest pocket, and whispered, "Sweetheart, your mommy is a hero."
Her steps grew heavier as her earpiece buzzed, confirming the cars had been separated.
By now, Car Six was already packed with panicked passengers. The staff had begun evacuating them into Car Seven.
Armed staff crouched behind cover, pointing soul ray pistols toward Car Five. They were hopelessly outmatched.
"What's the situation?" the conductor asked the security captain.
The man looked grim. "Not good. They're using passenger seats as shields. It looks like they've taken control of the front cars. The bomb's been activated—it's on a timer."
The conductor took a deep breath. She had to remain calm. As the leader of this train, she had no choice but to take charge.
Stepping forward, she shouted toward Car Five, "Listen! Don't do anything rash. If you have demands, state them clearly. We can talk. I will do my best to meet your terms—please don't hurt the passengers!"
"Cut the crap, lady. You're the conductor, yeah? Our demands are simple. Tell the Federation to release the group they arrested twenty days ago—"
