"Big sis, what does the central look like?" Said Larcy in her head. Right now they just finished playing and are now taking a break before having breakfast. She contemplated on what to talk about with Mistane as she's feeling awkward with the silence.
She stared at Mistane and Mistane did the same. She unconsciously tilted her head and Mistane does as well like she did when she wants to know what's happening. Larcy laughed, seeing her happy face Mistane smiled and Lara was left on her two big sis wondering what's going on.
Mistane took her sketch book and start drawing. Seemingly curious, looked at what she was drawing. She drew a two separate house and three stick figures. The two stick figures where at the front of the big house, while the other were on a small house.
She showed them the sketch book. Larcy, seeing the small stick figure and pointed at it. "Is this you?" With happy expectant face, she asked her hoping she was right as she also pointed at her. Mistane gave her a nod.
She took her sketch book, faced it on her, pointed at the two more stick figures and mimicked Mistane's way of asking questions. Mistane gave her an action just like how a person holds a baby and sway her hands left to right.
Your parents? Larcy wrote at the back of her drawings. Excited, Mistane with both palm clench and on her chest level, she nodded.
Perhaps, communicating with someone when she's deaf has never been so easy. She does not need to explain more and can at least experience what a child her age should have.
They talked about how many people lived in the house. Larcy shared her what kind of person her siblings were by drawing some symbols and describing them through each symbols while she carry Lara to make her feel better trying to run around and almost trip. Mistane on the other hand didn't tell much about the central and the two try their best to interpret each others drawings and understand them.
Time flies by and they were called by Rye to come to the dining to have dinner with everyone. "Let's go and have breakfast with us, Mistane." Feeling guilty of what she said earlier, Shine who followed Rye came to invite her personally. Although in her mind, Mistane is deaf and didn't hear her. As a kid she feels shy and guilty.
"Wait, deaf? Right she's deaf!" She exclaimed in her mind as she remembered. Consumed by embarrassment, she ran away to the dining hall. Rye just shrugged it off and Larcy just giggled as she gave a signal to Mistane that they're going to eat.
At the dinning table, everyone seems to be on edge. It seems that Madame Dushrough didn't help at the kitchen today. Shine and Lara occasionally looked at the door expecting someone to come in. Somehow finding peace today, everyone was able to enjoy their food.
Mistane on the other hand keep glancing at the window when she seems to have noticed the silhouette of someone. At first she tried to ignore it until she recognized who it actually was.
She did not inform anyone and just sneakily looked at the window whenever she feels like it. Her behavior was noticed by Rye and Ray. Confirming if the others also noticed, they looked around and locked eyes with each other. As if being caught guilty, Rye avoided Rays stare, and Ray faked his cough.
After they ate, Mistane took the opportunity to approach Shine and show her her sketch book. How do you do your bed? It says on the paper. Shine almost give a sarcastic remark again and stopped her self in time. "Right, pampered princess. You Don't have maids here." And she just sighed to herself.
"I'll teach you latter after i help big sis with the dishes." Unfortunately, she forgot again that she's deaf. The others feeling that they were all still adjusting to her presence didn't correct her and went about their own way.
Lara ran to Mistane and grabed her middle finger. She flashed her a grin and Mistane smiled back. She decided to take Lara for a walk around the house since she haven't familiarized herself with its lay out.
The two walked hand in hand in the main corridor as Lara do jump steps, and Mistane hum a melody.
She hears a whimpering sound and the two froze at their tracks. Through the opened window, the two tried to check where the sound came from. Mistane carry Lara so she could have a view outside and see for herself.
