i: unexpected guest

AAAAAAAARGH!

‎What a great start at 6:05 in the morning. As if my alarm wasn't enough to wake me up, a scream of a certain someone that is so loud it can probably be heard across the house had just flipped it upside down. Said Ray in his mind, yet his heart is beating so fast because this certain someone was their "precious" cousin that just arrived in their house yesterday afternoon.

‎The house seemed to be about to be demolished as the fast footsteps echoed inside the house. The siblings who were awoken by the scream all ran towards Mistane's room and forcefully opened the door. Their worried and scared faces instantly vanished as they saw her stretching with both hands above her head and feet shoulders wide apart. They were left speechless when they read what she had written in her sketch book.

‎Good morning. It says with a halfheartedly drawn smiley face. Then they were hit with the realization as they remembered that Mistane was deaf. Somehow they were happy by the fact that they heard her voice as she didn't speak the whole afternoon the last day.

‎Yesterday...

‎A letter came from the central, it must be from the eldest. Sir Luke said as he handed the letter to Madame Dusragh. He was about to reach for his tabaco in his pockets but didn't continue as the Madame has yet to leave.

Aren't you busy? He looked at her suspiciously. The eldest have a long day ahead and the contents of the letter seemed important this time since it came on an unexpected date. He kept probing as if trying to get something important out of her while playing with a toothpick in his mouth instead while leaning the wall.

Would you be fixing the doors to the barn today, and the fence to the chickens field? She asked him while staring at the direction where her daughter is playing. Somehow waiting for her to slip her tongue, he noticed that she's not her usual self today as she's always been strict with her time. Sensing his questioning gaze she abruptly turned her back against him and planned to leave. Laurice is attending to her favorite horse, it's about time for her to head to the kitchen. You should start doing your job instead of wasting your time dilly dallying here. She said as she leave heading towards the back garden.

‎Madame Dusragh secretly opened it as if it was hers and read the contents off the letter. Unfortunately for her, she thought it was just another greetings letter from the eldest son of the Adullez household. Nothing could prepare her for what information it has.

‎As soon as she read the word officials her face turned pale. She ordered her daughter Xandra to inform the eldest daughter of the house as an important guest is about to come today. Xandra comply without asking and ran towards the backdoor of the house to get her bike and rode it of to get to the staples immediately.

‎By the afternoon, a galloping horses was heard from a distance. Laurice came down to greet them.

Good day-

As if trying to make a good impression the Madame steped forward and greeted them as well cutting her off. Good day gentlemen. What do we owe your time for today? Laurice smiled at the officials as if the Madames actions were normal.

The officials felt awkward for a moment before speaking. We believed that almost every reason for our visit today has been written in the letter that the young lady here had probably received this morning. Pointing his hand at Laurice

The Madames face turned sour as she herd one of the officials words. She didn't give the letter to her at all, much more tell her the exact contents of the letter. The worst part is that she, herself did not read the whole contents of the letter.

Laurice on the other hand hadn't changed her expression making the officials think the she received the letter. She saw a familiar face through the glass window of the carriage. She gave the officials a big smile. Can you let my cousin come out now? The officials turned their heads toward the carriage and felt happy to oblige. They opened the door and came out Mistane.

The officials didn't stay for long after briefing Laurice about the matter. Laurice's youger siblings heard the commotion a while ago and hid behind the door way leading to their lounge. Mistane saw them and tilted her head down to the left as if confused.

Laurice called them all and introduced her other three younger siblings to her. Mistane is deaf so Laurice write everything to a paper. She lined her siblings from oldest to youngest from right to left.

big sis Laurice,

big sis shine,

big brother ray,

brother rye,

sister larcy,

sister lara

Mistane knew the eldest son Lary and the eldest daughter Laurice as they often visit her when she was a kid up until she was five years old. With her arms straight and fingers pointed at the girl in the doorway and looked at Laurice while her head tilted again.

They all looked at Xander by the door way and Laurice draw a stick figure of two people with a name on it. The name Madame Dusragh is connected to the big stick figure with an arrow, and the name Xandra with an arrow pointing at the small stick figure.

Mistane looked at it and as she's about to looked up, Madame Dusragh coincidentally arrived behind Xandra. Laurice gave her a smile and turned to Mistane again and have her play with her younger siblings. The Madame felt relief as Laurice didn't questioned her about the letter.

‎...the "officials" had given us the guardianship of our cousin from a prominent household. She's about Rye's age and i was told that if possible, we could obtain her full custody. We're her only blood relatives left so she had nowhere to go. The officials will come together with her by the afternoon after this letter arrived. With similar circumstances, i assume that you won't turn a blind eye.

‎~Best regards Lary

‎Present time...

‎Laurice gave her a half smile and wrote her a simple note in her sketch book. Breakfast, with an analog clock drawn and the arms pointing at exactly 7 o'clock.

‎Alright everyone, let's give Mistane some space so she can do her morning routine. She said as she gave her a smile again before gently closing the door.

‎Shine raised an eyebrow to her sister's words. Yeah, let's give her some "peace" and "quiet" time alone and hopefully she does the same for everyone. She muttered under her breath and wishing she didn't panic that much when she heard her scream.

Larcy, holding Lara's hands was dragged by her younger sister. They secretly go towards Mistane's room after a while. The little knuckles of the youngest knock at the door. Mitan ish play, Lara, watchi play, Acy, play! (Mistane, let's play, Lara wants to play, Larcy, play!) She cutely said as she raised both hands up in the air while holding her big sister Larcy's pinky finger.

Larcy giggleed. Would you like to play with us again? She asked as she pressed her ear by the door. They heard her hum. They opened the door as they remembered she was deaf. They opened the door and Mistane smiled at them. Larcy saw the sketch book at her desk and draw a stick figure of the three of them. She wrote "play" and then she showed it to her. Mistane smiled, looked at Lara then she noded excitedly as Lara ran towards her and grabed her wrist with both hands. Ey, ey! (Yey, yey!) She said loudly as she sways Mistane's arm.

The three walked out off Mistane's room hand in hand. With Lara being in the middle. Trying to sway by having both big sisters holding her hands tight, jumping and keeping both her feet off the ground as much time as possible.
