Meira widened her eyes in shock. "Azi, I wouldn't know about something like this…"
Laziel took a deep breath. He examined Meira's expression, determining she was genuine enough before falling silent. He closed his eyes.
"Just go… take a rest," he muttered before standing up and walking away, leaving Meira at a loss as she stood in the dimly lit living room alone.
The candle flickered a little in the dark, and the light nearly faded. As the light went out, Meira hurriedly stood up. The darkness made her feel unsettled, as if something was watching her.
She ran out of the room.
Laziel kept tossing and turning in his sleep. He reflected on himself, realizing he was a little obsessed with proving who the culprit was, to the point he disregarded his sister's feelings.
Now, he didn't know how to make Zerra forgive him. She already had a lot of supplies… even Cassias occasionally brought her pearls and diamonds, or whatever he thought Zerra would like.
