Because their destinations were different, and walking together would have been too conspicuous, the two werewolves and Kevin decided to say goodbye in the wilderness of the northern suburbs. As they exchanged goodbyes, both felt a bit strange.
It was the first time Vivian had said goodbye to a werewolf in such a friendly manner—note, I'm referring to a normal werewolf, not a silly one like Lily. In fact, given Lily's adorable appearance, Vivian had stopped treating her as a normal werewolf the next day.
Lily, on the other hand, was spending her first time among her own kind. She was filled with curiosity and found every move of the two Eben werewolves deeply amused. Despite having been "kidnapped" once before, she no longer cared.
The two Eben werewolves were still a bit disoriented. They realized for the first time that there were so many things in this world they didn't understand. The strange people around Kevin had opened their eyes to the world, and they would probably have to ponder it for two months after returning. The two werewolves wisely refrained from questioning the strange blue creature that had appeared earlier. They probably figured if they asked too many questions, their return would be difficult. Y'zaks alone would be enough to pin them both to the ground. If Vivian or Kevin were intent on silencing them, the two werewolves would at best leave a verbal will of no more than 300 words, which might not even be circulated...
"We'll return directly to Europe. If the family elders wish to see the Countess, we'll send someone to inform them in advance. You're an elder, after all, and you deserve to be treated with respect," Casa Eben said, nodding slightly to Vivian, bidding farewell in the most polite manner a werewolf could offer to a vampire. "Given the recent unrest in the world, that's probably some time off. We won't be bothering you again for the time being."
"It's best not to bother you," Vivian said, not being too polite. She waved her hand. "You two should leave quickly to avoid being targeted by witchers again. By the way, are your clothes okay? You shouldn't be able to use the black mist power for now, so you'll have to walk back to the city." Eun Eben tugged at the rags he was wearing, a performance piece. "You've already helped us clean the bloodstains. The rest is easy. Kasa and I will take a detour back to the city later. Before we enter, we'll put on some makeup and pretend to be beggars or artists."
Kevin, with a stiff smile, warned, "It's best to tell people you're world-traveling artists, or you'll get into trouble. Two foreigners begging on the streets in the city center will easily make the news for 50 minutes..."
"I know. We've been in China for a long time," Kasa Eben chuckled. "You'd better be careful too. An unusual gathering of witchers is definitely not a good thing. They might just be passing through, but a large group of witchers disappearing from this city out of thin air will probably attract more of their accomplices soon. You should keep a low profile for now. We'll say goodbye now, and we'll remain friends..."
Kevin slapped Kasa on the arm. "Let's go! You, a foreign werewolf, are showing off!" After the two werewolves, supporting each other, gradually disappeared into the distance, Vivian sighed, "Actually, they were pretty unlucky this time. They got beaten twice for nothing over a husky, and in the end, they didn't even take the husky. And those two sets of clothes look high-end. Tsk. They'd cover my food bills for at least six months. What a shame."
So she was worried about those two clothes!
Lily protested, jumping up and down beside them: "What's wrong with the husky? What's wrong with the husky? Huskies were wolves eight hundred years ago too!"
This lively wolf girl (or should I call her dog girl?) slightly eased Kevin's annoyance. He smiled, patted Lily's hair, and casually praised her: "Thanks to your steam this time. It's a bit weird, but it works."
The wolf girl smiled brightly, instantly forgetting the insult to the dog. Then, the four of them, along with a noisy data terminal, set off on their journey home. As for the traces left by the earlier fight in the warehouse, Kevin finally didn't have to worry about dealing with the scene thanks to "Big Blue" sent by Raven 12345. According to Y'zaks, the warehouse had been reduced to rubble by the lightning storm's fire and explosions. They'd also erased any traces of supernatural forces, so even the most advanced experts could only conclude it was a rare fire disaster caused by lightning. Wouldn't it be great if Raven 12345 could always be this effective?
The group arrived by teleportation and flight, but they didn't have the energy to return, so they took the city bus for a full two hours. By the time Kevin and his friends returned to their small home in the southern suburbs, it was already darkening and the lights were just coming on. Back inside, he turned on the light. "Gun," who had been entertaining himself at home for half the day, immediately came out to greet him. Kevin scooped the little black cat up in his arms. Then he felt his stomach rumble. "I think I didn't eat lunch!"
"Me neither," Vivian said, sulking Lily. "Because of this idiot, we both forgot to eat. And she, on the other hand, was kidnapped, yet she managed to eat six bowls of rice! She's quite the loser."
Lily chuckled dryly and rubbed her stomach. "But I'm still hungry... I want some ribs."
"I'll go heat up the food on the table," Vivian sighed. "The landlord is here to help." The table was still untouched from lunch, and Kevin was confident his cat hadn't stolen any of it. "Gun" was a truly remarkable cat. Despite being from a stray family, he was accustomed to stealing food from the kitchen, often jumping onto his owner's bed to keep warm late at night, and fond of scratching furniture, never catching mice. But there was one thing that pleased Kevin: he never messed up his owner's food. This stemmed from a lesson he'd learned two years ago: when Gun first arrived at Kevin's house, he was a wild and unruly cat (though he still is). Seeing Kevin eating, he jumped onto the table to grab food from his bowl...
That time, Kevin drank spicy hot soup, and it was incredibly hot.
After returning from the veterinary clinic, Gun developed a psychological scar on the family dining table, and his eating area remained below the table legs. "This time I finally got to see a real witcher," Kevin sighed as he helped Vivian in the kitchen. "What a troublemaker... Do you think there will be more witchers causing trouble in the future?"
Kevin remembered the warning given by the two werewolves before they parted. He also knew that the sudden disappearance of seven or eight witchers in the area would inevitably attract the attention of other witchers. Although Kevin was not afraid of trouble, the thought of a group of psychopaths about to flood into the city suddenly made him feel troubled. "Come on, they won't stay long anyway," Vivian said, seemingly unconcerned. "They'll just search here for a few days at most, and if they find no clues, they'll retreat. Normally, after a conflict between 'outliers' and witchers, they won't stay put. They certainly wouldn't expect us to stay here."
Kevin hummed, suddenly remembering the arcane servant who had come to the rescue today. A half-smile crossed his face. "Come to think of it, Raven 12345 can be a bit reliable sometimes. I thought she was completely hands-off, but it turns out she knows everything about our situation."
The arcane servants sent by Raven 12345 were a huge help today, at least taking care of the most difficult part of finishing up and cleaning up the scene. But who knows what will become of the witchers he took away. Why would Raven 12345 want them? Thinking of the goddess's neurotic personality, Kevin suddenly felt sympathy for the witchers: they'd probably be better off being beaten to death on the spot. Just as Kevin was wondering what that psychopath was thinking, the doorbell suddenly rang from the living room.
Vivian and Kevin exchanged glances and hurried into the living room. They saw Lily, also standing and looking toward the door, a look of nervousness on her face. Everyone was a bit on edge after the previous fight with the witcher, and the sudden ringing of the doorbell at this moment was like a death sentence, sending everyone into a state of panic.
Yzaks was the least nervous of the lot. He was sitting on the sofa, eating sunflower seeds and watching TV. He looked up at Kevin and said, "Landlord, there's someone outside. Open the door?"
"Please be patient. I'll go check the way out." Kevin thought, thinking that if it was a witcher, he wouldn't be so obedient as to ring the doorbell. He waved Lily to sit down and sent Vivian back to the kitchen to continue working. He then checked his shields and took a deep breath before approaching the door. "I'm coming. Don't press it."
The door opened, revealing a girl he didn't recognize.
