Chapter 109 - Mist Escape

As soon as Lily announced her plan, Kevin and Vivian simultaneously gave her horrified looks: "This idiot jumping out to save the world at the crucial moment—that doesn't quite fit the plot!"

Lily was naturally unconvinced by their looks, but she said nothing. She simply crouched in a horse stance, preparing to mobilize her internal energy. Then, she slowly raised her ice and fire claws. Instantly, two opposing forces, ice and flame, erupted from her claws. Countless ice crystals and surging heat waves formed a near-tornado-like force on either side of Lily's body! "This idiot is really..." Vivian was so shocked she didn't know what to say. She hadn't expected those two claws to not only be used for slashing, but also for casting spells. But she soon stopped talking: the surrounding demon hunters, sensing the possibility that the strange female werewolf might launch a desperate counterattack, instantly raised their crossbows. The next second, several magic-breaking arrows hurled themselves at Lily's face!

Vivian reacted quickly, her left half suddenly transforming into a cloud of black and red smoke, swirling around the arrows. She used her magic to prevent the magic-breaking crossbow bolts from teleporting back to the bowstrings. Kevin, meanwhile, dove sideways to Lily's other side, blocking the remaining three bolts with his back. After three loud bangs, he noticed a small red square in his field of vision, with the words "Rigid Shield Capacity Insufficient, About to Deactivate" written on it. He broke into a cold sweat. If he didn't run, someone would die!

"Hah!" With a delicate cry, the whirlwind of ice and fire unleashed by Lily's claws finally exploded into two whirlwinds over ten meters high. The witchers, realizing the situation was amiss and their attacks were temporarily ineffective, immediately switched to other gear. They pulled spell cards or vials from their hidden pockets, ignited them, and smashed them. A variety of colorful protective layers appeared around them, clearly intending to survive the "werewolf's desperate counterattack" by sheer force. These seasoned experts knew the monsters before them were already at the end of their strength. If this final counterattack failed, all that remained was a one-sided "purification."

"Look at my ultimate move, the ice and fire tornado!" Lily finally pushed the power of her claws to a point where she could barely control it. Then, with a powerful swing of her arms, her claws collided with a "bang," and the two tornadoes suddenly merged!

"Bang! Boom!" The sudden expansion and contraction of the air triggered a massive explosion, sending a massive, white, high-temperature shockwave radiating outward in all directions. In the blink of an eye, thick fog enveloped an area hundreds of meters in radius, reducing visibility to near zero.

Lily tugged at Kevin's arm: "Run, run! Bat and the two wolf uncles, run!"

Kevin felt as if he were strapped to a speeding motorcycle. Before he could react, his entire body was suspended sideways in the air, being dragged along by Lily. He could not see his surroundings; only a vast expanse of white filled his vision, and a searing heat lashed his face. Lily was right beside him, but she was only a blurry outline due to the dense fog, demonstrating just how thick the fog was.

"Bang, bang, bang!" After a moment's delay, the continuous crackling of bowstrings emanated from behind him. Apparently, the witchers, after their initial shock, had finally realized what was happening and began to attack indiscriminately. But judging by the sound, they had likely misjudged their target. Demon hunters were indeed closer to being "human." They possessed strange magic and a plethora of miscellaneous tools, but their perception and reflexes clearly couldn't match those of the Warcraft-like creatures. Vivian wouldn't have made this mistake if she were chasing her prey: she could locate wounded prey from kilometers away by the scent of blood.

Kevin's thoughts drifted wildly, and as the sounds of pursuit faded behind him, he finally felt a sense of peace. It seemed the crisis had been averted for the time being. At the same time, a familiar fluttering of wings could be heard from above. Vivian seemed to be following him safely. He looked up and called out, "Vivian, are you okay?"

"It's fine, just minor injuries. They're almost healed." Vivian's figure appeared a few meters above and to the side. The fog was still spreading, but it had thinned considerably. He could roughly see the surroundings. It seemed that everyone had left the factory area and entered a completely desolate area. "I wonder if those two werewolves have escaped yet?"

"They have!" Kasa Eben's gruff voice came from behind. The burly werewolf leaped out of the thick fog, carrying the thin Eun Eben on his shoulders. His arm, ravaged by the holy silver dagger, still hung at his side, seemingly temporarily disabled. However, the silvery wounds on his body were slowly healing, and it seemed as if the magic power within them was gradually dissipating as he moved some distance from the witcher. "Girl, what was that just now? That mist..."

"Water vapor!" Lily dragged Kevin along as she ran, happily saying, "Ice cubes hitting a soldering iron create water vapor. I magnify that a hundred times and then mix it with a tornado, and it becomes a lot of water vapor!"

Everyone: "..."

"Is that your ultimate move?" Vivian nearly fell from the air. She lurched, her body quirking as she asked. "Clash your paws together to create a massive amount of water vapor, and then run away?"

"Yeah!" Lily nodded vigorously, her tail wagging and slapping Kevin's head (Kevin was still being held by Lily, floating in the air, for everyone to see). "I've even got a name for it: Super? Ice and Fire Double? Water Vapor Escape!" Kasa Eben's hand nearly shook as he threw his best friend overboard. "Which werewolf clan are you from?! I've never heard of werewolves with such a gift!"

"Probably from the Arctic Circle or near the vast snowfields..." Kevin sighed. "They have a strong connection to sledding."

"Oh... Icefield Werewolves? It's said that hundreds of years ago, they frequently robbed human sled teams on the icefields. They seem quiet in recent years. If they're descendants, they might have developed these strange abilities."

Kevin continued to sigh. "No, her parents might have been the ones pulling the sleds..."

"What?"

"Nothing, forget it." Kevin looked around and saw that everyone had left the range of the Mist Release (water vapor) and had fled to a completely unfamiliar place. He reached out and tugged at Lily's tail (which was closest to him). "Alright, put me down first. I'm about to vomit." Lily was happily enjoying the wind and speed of her youthful run, but her run under the setting sun was interrupted by a careless tug on her tail. She screamed, stopped dead in her tracks, and threw Kevin over twenty meters...

Not really a throw, that was more inertia, but anyway, Kevin finally climbed out of the pile of rocks twenty meters away, his clothes tattered, and walked towards Lily with a resentful look on his face: "Don't get so excited."

"No one has ever pulled my tail!" Lily looked terrified. "Only people have stepped on me! I have a psychological scar!"

Kasa Eben stared in amazement at this frivolous and seemingly mentally ill junior. He smacked his lips and said nothing. He simply placed Ewen behind a small mound nearby, sheltered from the wind: "He should have gotten rid of him." "I've obliterated our presence along the way, and we've made several detours along the way. And with that thick fog blocking our path, we probably won't be able to catch up for now," Vivian observed Eun's miserable appearance. Even though they were a hostile species, she couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness in the current situation. "Can he survive?"

"It's just a penetrating wound. A werewolf can recover with a little rest as long as they're still breathing," Kasa nodded, then smacked Eun's face with a claw. "How long are you going to pretend to sleep?"

"Ugh..." Eun Eben cried out in pain, opening his eyes. "Can't you just give me a break... sss, it hurts! Those witchers are getting more and more creative. Why did they roast me after I fainted?"

Eun, perplexed by the burns on his left side, asked casually, and the remaining three people glared at Lily fiercely. The idiot hadn't noticed at all; she was crouched beside a nearby rock, sharpening her claws. "Why are so many witchers appearing at once? Are they planning a major operation?"

It was only then that Kasa Eben finally had time to consider this serious issue.
