Chapter 107 - Chaotic Battle

The situation took a sudden turn for the worse. The sudden appearance of the demon hunters left Vivian momentarily stunned.

Casa Eben stared in astonishment at the condescending, expressionless "humans" around him. His muscles began to swell once again. The strange crossbows in the demon hunters' hands carried an unsettling aura, the distinct "scent" left by countless predators. As a seasoned werewolf, Kasa Eben could sense the intense murderous aura.

There was no doubt they were a group of seasoned hunters.

Casa Eben had previously received information that there were traces of demon hunter activity in the city, and he had assumed there might be one or two patrolling. However, he had never expected so many demon hunters to gather here, and their strength was many times greater than he had anticipated. To be able to ambush the werewolves under their noses was definitely not something a new demon hunter could accomplish. The intelligence was wrong; something might have happened to the family's "sentinels." Unfortunately, nothing could be said until he had successfully escaped this crisis.

Eun Eben also immediately began to transform, but both he and Kasa Eben were noticeably slower, and even after transforming, their auras were much weaker.

Perhaps the fierce battle with Vivian had contributed to the two werewolves' weakened condition, but the greater factor was the faint yet lingering strange odor in the air. This scent made the two werewolves feel their strength steadily draining, and their concentration remained elusive. Eun Eben stared up at the middle-aged man on the rooftop, a low growl escaping his throat: "You... are still so despicable!"

"It's just hunting," the middle-aged man said expressionlessly. "A hunter setting a trap has nothing to do with morality. But before we proceed, I have a few questions: What are you planning on with so many monsters gathered in one place? This isn't the place for you to be."

The middle-aged man's voice was quite calm, without anger or hostility. He was simply curious about the situation, so he asked. This was Kevin's first encounter with a true witcher. Unlike the half-baked Nangong he had met in England, this witcher more closely matched Vivian's description, and clearly... more dangerous.

As the middle-aged man finished speaking, the witchers on the surrounding rooftops raised their crossbows and aimed at the several "abnormals" on the scene, taking the unfortunate Kevin with them. Clearly, they didn't expect their "prey" to reveal the reason for their gathering. While werewolves and vampires might exchange a few words after a fight, demon hunters and aliens are utterly sworn enemies. There's virtually no chance of compromise between the two; once they meet, it's a fight to the death.

"I can't do anything," Kasa Eben said quickly, turning before the other party could strike. "How are you?"

"I'm fine. Their medicine isn't working on me," Vivian said, looking wary. She glanced at Lily as she spoke. "This big dog looks okay. Maybe it has a special bloodline..."

Under normal circumstances, Kasa Eben would have wanted to ask what "special bloodline" meant. But no one gave him time now. As Vivian finished speaking, the witcher leader gently raised his crossbow: "Attack!"

Seven or eight tiny, gleaming silver crossbow bolts shot out like lightning. Compared to the massive battle between Vivian and Kasar Eben, these bolts seemed insignificant, but even Vivian didn't underestimate the destructive power of these strange creatures. She reached out and pushed Lily, then spread out like a whirlwind of bats, dodging the attack. Kasar and Yune also leaped in two directions, quickly dodging. Kevin was the only one who reacted slowly, though his mind barely caught up. His body was still a step behind. With a crisp "ding," a ripple of water rippled across his chest. Fortunately, his rigid shield had the ability to automatically activate in an emergency, otherwise he would have been "happily attacked."

The silver-white crossbow bolts that had missed the target didn't fall to the ground. Instead, after Vivian and the others dodged, it vanished in mid-air, miraculously reappearing on each witcher's crossbow, cocked again!

This is the standard equipment of the witcher, a hunting weapon known as "Endless Justice." Its crossbow and ammunition are imbued with incredible power, allowing it to hunt its target endlessly. The witcher uses his mental power to lock onto the enemy with his crossbow. Then, before the crossbow successfully strikes the target, it can reset itself to its optimal pre-launch state countless times until it hits!

Of course, there are ways to counter these weapons: taking advantage of the opportunity to destroy the crossbow or directly kill the crossbow user. Otherwise, the only option is to wait for the witcher to switch to other equipment. Vivian and the two legitimate werewolves were well-informed and, of course, knew what these witcher equipment was all about. They immediately launched a counterattack. Vivian transformed into a storm of bats, swirling with two balls of lightning, and rushed towards the witcher leader on the roof, intending to decapitate him. The two werewolves quickly dodged the constant barrage of crossbow bolts and waited for the right moment to close in on the attackers. Their black mist seemed to be suppressed by the strange smell in the air, making their only recourse now to their own speed.

Lily, clutching her head, dashed around like a headless fly. For now...she was safe, after all; huskies are quite fast.

In an instant, the scene descended into chaos. The demon-smashing hand crossbow, with its unlimited ammunition, began firing at Kevin and his men like a mini-machine gun. Faint traces of silver light flickered in the air, the shadows left by the demon-smashing arrows as they teleported back to the crossbow. The two werewolves stood no chance of closing in on their enemies. Their current physical condition was so dire that their agility alone meant they could remain unscathed. Vivian's first lightning strike was ineffective: the witcher leader had a lightning rod beside him...

The one who had fired the arrow at Kevin was a cold-blooded woman with a scar on her face. She was the only witcher to have lost a crossbow bolt. Kevin's rigid shield, imbued with a high-level civilization, far surpassed the mystical levels of this planet. The witcher's weapon's special effects had been negated. Seeing Kevin dodging the others' attacks with a translucent membrane covering his body, the scarred woman let out a curious "Huh?" and then, standing on the roof of the two-story factory building, took a step forward. Her entire body instantly vanished, reappearing less than a meter in front of Kevin the next second, unleashing a punch! Kevin cried out inwardly, "Oh my god!" He'd never imagined that the original Demon Hunter not only had unlimited ammunition but also a full-screen teleportation cheat. He was instantly struck in the face by a bear. His rigid shield mitigated most of the damage, but the residual force of the punch still sent him flying several meters. Kevin only managed to regain his balance thanks to his enhanced muscle coordination and agility, avoiding the embarrassing fate of being knocked down by a woman's punch. The impassive Scar Woman was even more surprised to see Kevin's face shield. She waited until Kevin regained his balance before speaking slowly, "What race are you? I've never seen this kind of magic before. Are you a wizard?"

"I'm human!" Kevin observed the chaotic battle around him. Already furious at these "demon hunters" who appeared and killed without any reason, and now that he had been successfully ambushed, he was furious. He shouted, "A real human! More real than you!"

The Scar Woman hadn't expected Kevin's speed to rival a werewolf's ultimate charge. She didn't even have time to teleport. Surprised, she raised her crossbow to block the attack. With a click, Kevin, this half-baked superman, became the first to successfully defeat an armed demon hunter. "Humans don't have that kind of speed and strength, nor do they have protective shields." Scar Woman teleported ten meters away before Kevin could throw his second punch. She quickly removed the bizarre, over-a-meter-long crossbow from her back. She still had time to speak. "You must be a new breed of monster. I'm going to study it."

Kevin swung the data terminal with all his might: "Go study this!"
