Chapter 72 - 72 - A beach episode that turned deadly’

[Guess who's back alive and kicking! The protest turned out to be deadlier than I expected. Some gunshots happened and I had no choice but to go home without my friends—they intend to stay and go further despite my convincing lolz. Anyways, we're a bunch of pathetic fucks because nothing happened after the protest. No official resigned, the corrupts are still running and it seems like we're back to the way we were before the protest. In other words, nothing fucking changed except for a few injuries and deaths.]

The next morning was the same as usual. They ate at the fancy restaurant before walking back to the beach resort.

Everything was handled and paid by Kenshin himself, thanks to a certain Yakuza boss whose life is currently under his mercy.

This is one of the reasons why he spared the Yakuza boss's life despite sending assassins to him. This way, he could live without any money worries.

When his parents started questioning him about where he got the money, he simply stated that he used the leftover money that he won from gambling to build himself a small online business.

They instantly believed his words. His words didn't sound absurd to them as they already knew that Kenshin won a huge amount of money from gambling back then, what they didn't know was that it was already used up.

Speaking of gambling, he finally uncovered why the gambling den would allow a 15-year-old student to gamble.

It was both legal on the surface and an illegal behind-the-scenes kind of gambling den. Well, typically, all kinds of gambling should be illegal but the one where the original Kenshin gambled was definitely dealing with illegal.

Not only was it under the name of the Yakuza boss but it's also unlicensed by the Japanese Government and last but not least, they secretly allow minors to gamble and if they lose, offer them a first-time exclusive free loan without any interest.

The gambling den would then handle it so they would instantly lose all of it whereas the loan sharks would finally come forward and offer another loan but this time with small interests that they made it sound like it was insignificant to the minors.

It may sound unbelievable but to the minors, it's not. They believed and then took another loan.

Lose and repeat until the minor has spent everything and is now drowning in debt that has mysteriously piled up more than they asked for.

Finally, at the end of the day, the minors wouldn't be able to pay up in time and even if they tried to approach the police, the latter were already bought by the Yakuzas so there's no point.

Left and broken, the Yakuza swoop in, take the child's organs, and sell them online.

When Kenshin first heard this kind of story, he didn't believe it at first. Why would the Yakuza go through so many processes instead of just straight kidnapping the children?

Well, it turns out it's all about how they will handle the aftermath. A child goes missing, the police would investigate and who would be the initial suspects?

Child traffickers, known criminals in the neighborhood, etc.

Gambling dens wouldn't be on the list. No one questions why a child would be in a gambling den.

At the end of the day, the bad guys would be the winners and winners take it all.

Well, it's not my problem. Even if I kill every last bad guy in the world, it wouldn't ensure their extinction, evil would always rise to disturb the peaceful society, Kenshin shrugged his shoulders.

He's no longer a hero. He was, yes, but not anymore. He was done serving as one and he believes he deserves to enjoy his new life without worrying about such things.

Worst-case scenario, he could always have his students do the hero job once they're strong enough.

"…enshin…Kenshin!"

Hearing his name being yelled, Kenshin woke up from his stupor and looked at Tomoko with a displeased expression, "What?"

Only for the little goblin to cover her mouth and giggle, "…Nothing, hehe."

"You little shit…" He felt his lips twitching in annoyance.

Just wait till we get home. I'll officially start our physical training and you'll be begging me for mercy in no time, Kenshin swore in his heart.

"Let's head back now…" Now that they were done with their breakfast, Kenshin wanted to feel the swirling water on his body again.

However, just as Kenshin walked past the tables and chairs, he caught something in the corner of his eye.

Instantly, he felt his blood run cold as his eyes widened in surprise.

For some reason, he's seeing Geto again, wearing the familiar kemono that he always wore in the anime.

His eyes were slit and his lips were curved into a smile. Kenshin instantly knew that the man was here for none other than himself!

"Hmm? Nii-chan, why'd you stop?" Behind him, Tomoko blindly followed him and accidentally bumped into his back.

Kenshin remained still, his voice steady and eyes keeping eye contact with Geto, "Tomoko, I want you to leave through the back door in the kitchen, fetch mom and dad, and leave this place…"

"What? Leave from the kitchen? But…if they asked what I'm doing there, what am I supposed to say…I-I'm kind of a bit embarrassed…" Tomoko nervously fidgeted as her introvert persona was taking over.

Kenshin clicked his tongue and mentally cursed his little sister. Out of all the days she could've been embarrassed to talk to people, why did it have to happen now!?

"Do it or I'll tell mom and dad about what you're doing with my underwear every night." He whispered threateningly, and the tone of his voice made Tomoko shiver in fear.

Hearing how he sounded, no doubt he would really tell their parents about her night escapades!

"I-I'll leave now!" She didn't even bother to ask what made her brother act weird all of a sudden, all she knew was that either she leaves through the back, kitchen, or she leaves Earth out of embarrassment from being exposed as a pervert to their parents.

Seeing her leave made Kenshin sigh in relief. Truth is, their parents have long known that Tomoko was a pervert, they just act oblivious to it to protect her.

Finally, Kenshin focused on the current matter at hand.

Suguru Geto.

The man who will someday, cause enough trouble to Japan and to Gojo. As if that's not enough, his body would also be taken and possessed by someone else.

Kenshin hopes that the man isn't here for trouble, instead, just here to monologue like a villain, telling the protagonist of his glorious cause or maybe to give a warning or some shit like that.

He has watched enough films and anime to know how a villain usually operates.

Speaking of giving a warning, he's probably interested in me, or more specifically, my blend of unique and confusing abilities that I showcased, murmured Kenshin, assuming Geto's purpose.

Well, he's not exactly hiding during his time with the cast of Jujutsu Kaisen. So someone like Geto, who plans to eradicate the 'monkeys' would definitely take as much help as he can get to realize that dream.

When Geto turned around to leave through the front door without even bothering to look back, Kenshin knew the man was inviting him to follow.

So Kenshin did what he had to do.

He turned around and followed Tomoko through the kitchen. There's no way he's going to follow someone whose intentions toward him are around bad rather than good.

He's not an idiot like the other people.

With his senses, it didn't take long for him to find their current location. However, his face turned grim when he sensed two Cursed Spirits following Tomoko and their parents as they walked out of the beach.

Mom and dad seemed oblivious to it while Tomoko was sweating heavily, no doubt she saw the Cursed Spirits following them.

Kenshin cast an invisibility spell over himself and brandished his Katana from the inventory, coating it with purifying energy before rushing over there.

As soon as he arrived, he wasted no time and unleashed his katana over the two Cursed Spirits in blurring speed, his purify-coated katana did its work and sliced the two like cutting through butter.

At the same time as he was dealing with them, Tomoko and their parents were already at the parking lot.

A sigh of relief escaped his lips as he placed the Katana back in its sheath and then into his inventory.

———

"Just get in and we'll leave!"

By the time he got there, he saw Tomoko arguing with their parents as she tried to push them inside the family car.

However, due to her tiny hands and frail body, she couldn't even budge their mother, much less their father.

"Mom, just get inside!"

"Tomoko! What are you doing? Why are we leaving? It's still morning and we left quite a few things back in the room."

"No! No! We don't have time for that, we gotta leave!"

When Tomoko heard his footsteps and looked back, relief filled her face as she called out to him, "Nii-chan, help me! They don't want to listen to me!"

"Ken-chan? What's happening? Why's your little sister acting weird?" Mom turned to Kenshin and she asked him in confusion.

Kenshin shook his head and pressed his palm on the car's hood, casting a cloaking rune spell and several protective measures, "It's complicated. I'll explain it once we get back."

"O-Okay?"

A single minute in and their car finally rode out of the parking lot and on the road.

During the time, Kenshin kept his senses at an all-time high and detected Geto's location. The racist was currently standing by himself in a secluded area behind a cottage.

He's also sensing the man's emotions and he could tell that Geto's anger was shooting through the roof.

Yeah, that's what you get for thinking I'd even follow you when it's obvious it's a trap, Kenshin snickered.

Thankfully, he was smart enough not to follow and thanks to it, he was able to save his family from trouble. Yes, just trouble, not death. The amount of runes he placed on them would make even Odin himself frown.

He kept watch on Geto and seeing him remain unmoving and with no intention to follow them, only then did Kenshin finally relax in his seat.

The so-called beach episodes that he watched in the anime were lies!

How come his own beach episode turned deadly, huh?!
