Chapter 56 - 56 - Catching the Supernatural attention! [3]

By the time Kenshin got back, it was already afternoon and the sisters and Sawako had already cooked the ingredients that they bought from the supermarket.

To his expectations, the moment he set foot inside the household, Maria quickly barraged him with concern-filled questions.

"Ken-chan! Have you seen the news? Are you okay?"

"Why didn't you come with us!? You could've gotten hurt!"

"If you died, what would happen to my poor sister? She'll become a widow at a young age!"

Hearing her last words, Alya turned beet red and she quickly reprimanded her big sister, "Nee-san!"

"Oh right. Sorry!" Maria apologized while knocking her knuckles on the top of her head with her tongue sticking out.

Kenshin ignored the last few words and replied to her questions in a single answer.

"I'm fine. I was already on my way home when the event happened." was the perfect excuse that he came up with.

No further questions can be asked and the topic will instantly get abandoned.

"Oh, I see! I'm glad you were okay, I thought something bad happened to you!" Maria wiped off the non-existent sweat from her forehead and loudly sighed in relief.

If something bad happened to me, would I still be standing here talking to you? Kenshin's lips twitched several times but he didn't dare to say it out loud.

"Now that you're back, go sit and let's eat!"

With a nod of his head, Kenshin found himself a seat and saw the food on the table.

There were three bowls of different dishes. A gyudon, yakitori, and tonkatsu. Each is Kenshin's favourite.

"Itadakimasu!" The five of them cupped their hands and uttered in unison, a word that is traditional and embedded deep within the Japanese culture.

Out of the five, Kenshin gobbled up everything, when the girls couldn't handle the remaining food on their plates, he would gladly take it with fervour.

In the end, everyone is satisfied with Kenshin being the most.

"Don't worry, let big sister handle the table. You three can go upstairs and do whatever you have to do." Maria shooed them away with a teasing smile. Although she wanted to pull Sawako to help her do the dishes just so her little sister could have Kenshin all to herself, she's not that evil.

Yet.

"L-Let's go." Alya doesn't like her sister's smile one bit. She felt like if they stayed a bit longer, a wave of embarrassment would engulf her.

Kenshin nodded his head in agreement. Unbeknownst to him, the entire supernatural world is taken by storm upon receiving the news of Satan Serafall and her sister getting attacked.

———

"You were attacked?" A red-haired man with a sharp jaw and eyebrows, bearing a regal and soft expression on his face, was furrowing his eyebrows.

"That's the story." Standing in front of him was Serafall, shrugging her shoulders.

Who would've thought that this man with such a soft voice and face would be the Underworld's strongest devil and the Satan Lucifer, Serafall couldn't help but assess the man in front of her.

Such a man was worried about her. Typical Sirzechs. He's always been that guy who cared for his friends. Though that somehow changed when his little sister, Rias, was born.

Since then, almost all of his affection was transferred to that fiery redhead. Though she doesn't mind and completely understands him.

"….I didn't expect them to retaliate so early," Sirzechs muttered to himself, leaning forward and using his interlocked fingers to cover his mouth.

Serafall, of course, heard him, "Here you go again, blaming yourself again. What was that sentence that humans say? 'Grow some balls?'"

Hearing her, Sirzechs tried his best to hide the twitching of his face. As an avid fan of human and their creativity, especially Japan, he knows and understands their slang.

"…Right. By the way, how's Sona? I heard she was also involved in the attack." Sirzechs changed the topic. As an expert in conversations, he knew that changing the topic to Serafall's little sister was a guaranteed success.

True to his expectations, Serafall's face beamed, "I'm glad you asked! Hehe! Did you know, she started to take an interest in Chess? You know, the one that also got Ajuka hooked?"

Sirzechs was surprised, "Oh really?"

"Right!? Sona-tan will definitely grow up as smart as Ajuka…without his lack of interest in everything but his laboratory, of course. She'll be like the better version of Ajuka!"

As Serafall continues to praise her little sister's cuteness and intelligence, Sirzechs has entered a dreamy state as he recalls his little sister, Rias, back at home.

She's just the same age as Sona and even livelier than her.

"Onii-chan! Let's play!"

"Eat the food I just made, Onii-chan!"

"Look, Onii-chan, I made a paper butterfly for you!"

"Onii-chan, you're so cool! I want to marry Onii-chan someday!"

The more Sirzechs recalled about her, the sheepish his grin became. His eyes were turning cloudy as he was mesmerized by the memories of his time with Rias.

Hopefully, she also develops a hobby like Sera's sister, albeit a devil and the Lucifer one at that, Sirzechs prayed in his heart—unfazed from the sharp stinging pain that he just felt for a single second.

"Anyways, I heard about the complaints of the Council. They're ganging up on you again, huh?"

As soon as they shook their little sisters out of their minds, their conversation trailed back to normal.

"Sigh. They're just too eager to do that, always trying to find flaws in everything I do just so they can put me in my place." Sirzechs leaned back in his chair and released a sigh of defeat.

Serafall chuckled, "Yeah, you definitely need to grow some balls."

"Maybe," Sirzechs shrugged.

He then continued, "By the way, do you have time later?"

"Why?" Serafall was curious.

"Well, I was hoping to get our little sisters to know each other, it would be better for them to interact with each other rather than some brats following their parents so they could simply get us through them."

His words made her chuckle. She could understand that. Yesterday, she had to turn down several marriage offers with the reason of Sona being too young for marriage.

Serafall jumped excitedly, with the Lucifer Satan sharing the same energy but more tame, "Oohhh! They would definitely get along! Later, I'll go grab Sona-tan and get her to meet Rias-tan!"

"That's a relief."

"Then, I'll go and take my leave now."

Before Serafall could leave, Sirzechs suddenly spoke to stop her.

"Serafall, wait for a second."

"Hm? Why? What's wrong?" She turned around and confusedly looked at the red-haired Lucifer.

"That man, the guy you mentioned, do you think it's possible to contact him? I just want to thank him for what he did." Of course, this isn't exactly his full plan.

However, Serafall, sharp and witty as ever, bluntly exposed him, "…Sirzechs, you should practice more on hiding your true intentions. I can read you from afar."

Crack!

"As for contacting him. I'm not sure." Serafall shrugged her shoulders. Though she was also lying as she made a promise to her savior before they parted ways.

"Can you keep my identity a secret? Just consider it a payment for saving your little sister, is that okay?"

Of course, seeing as there's no harm in it and she could fully understand how he feels so Serafall promised him.

Even though that man disguised his face with an illusion magic, something like that is nowhere near tricking her, a Satan.

So she knows that the man who looks like in his thirties is a boy who looks no older than a high school student.

"I see. What a shame." Sirzechs sighed in defeat. Unlike Serafall, he didn't see through her lie and instantly believed her.

Sorry Sirzechs, but he saved my little sister so a little lie to you won't hurt, Serafall apologized in her mind.

———

Sirzechs and the Devils weren't the only ones who caught wind of Serafall Leviathan's shocking feat of freezing an entire Supermarket after getting attacked.

"What a hassle. These guys really just can't keep their hands to themselves." Wearing a long brown coat, a dark-haired man with dirty blonde bangs was rubbing his small goatee, a weary smile plastered across his lower face.

His name is Azazel, a fallen angel and the leader of Grigori, a faction consisting of Fallen Angels like him. As the first Angel that fell from his grace after Lucifer's rebellion, he's taken the mantle of leading his fellow Fallens to fight against both the Angels and even the devils during the Great War.

The Angels hate them because they fell from God's embrace while the devils hate them also but only because they see themselves as far superior to Fallen Angels.

Azazel just finished reading the report submitted to him and the contents of it instantly made him exhausted.

"Is peace really that hard to maintain? Why does everybody want senseless violence?" Puffing on the cigarette between his index and middle fingers, Azazel dropped the folder on the surface of his desk and rubbed his temples.

"But still, why was there a mysterious human who helped Serafall?" his mind went towards a certain part of the report where it explicitly stated that this certain human was the sole reason Serafall managed to win against her attackers.

Though no name was mentioned, only an image.

"He's Japanese, alright. Probably around his 30s or something. That mighty goatee looks similar to mine." Azazel muttered to himself, caressing the printed photo of a man, and throwing a punch towards one of the assailants.

"With his face exposed, searching for him would be easy."

———

As the new Queen of Kyoto Yokai faction and the new holder of its Leylines, Yasaka would instantly know everything that happens inside her domain.

So, as soon as she detected a powerful presence in the form of the Satan Serafall, she quickly sent various Yokais to keep an eye on her from a distance.

And now, she just received a full and very detailed report of what transpired in that Supermarket, along with the surprise of reading the involvement of someone familiar to her.

"Kenshin…"

She was curious as to how he got himself involved with Serafall.

She also didn't expect him to be here in Kyoto, without telling her.

"Hmph! You think you can escape me, Kenshin? Maybe I should find you and pay you a visit right now."

As the holder of Kyoto's Leylines, as long as she wants it, she can lock on someone's Life Force, so long as the said someone is inside Kyoto. This is how she knew that Serafall visited Kyoto and sent some Yokais to spy on her.

Closing her eyes, it didn't take her long before detecting a familiar Ki

"There you are." A smile crept up to her face as she raised herself from sitting on her throne, preparing to travel and visit him.

"Just wait for me over there, Kenshin~"

[Okay, It's been a month(I think?) since I installed Witcher 3 and I just got out of White Orchard (yes I'm a slow player since I checked every nook and cranny of the place before proceeding with killing the Griffin), met Yennefer(an absolute hottie btw) and talked to this guy that explained to me the lore or at least the current news going on in the world and I'm lost as fuck. I was planning to make a fanfic out of it but I think my lack of knowledge over its world would make the fic flop lolz. Any advice anyone?!]
