Leo/Ryn
It did not stop.
Ryn had thought, even prayed silently, that the creature would eventually grow tired and retreat back into the flames. But no, it remained there in the distance, its colossal form looming beside the twisted tree, hurling fireball after fireball at them without rest.
The students struggled desperately to hold the barrier, their voices hoarse with effort, their bodies trembling. Every few minutes one of them would collapse to the ground, drained beyond endurance, and another would stumble forward to take their place.
The cycle had been endless, grinding on for hours, and Ryn's chest ached with the certainty that they could not last much longer.
