The arena grew silent as General Iroh descended from the rock. He walked around the center, lowering his head to the masters, who in return did the same.
Then he turned toward the students, pointing his fingers at all the sections, but he didn't say a word.
No one spoke for a few seconds, but many students shifted uncomfortably in their seats.
Then General Iroh began with a single word. "This is an impromptu test approved by the grandmasters and the emperor to test the brilliant students of Draconic," he said, walking around, making sure to face every student.
"For years, there has been no record of war, and past students of Draconic Academy who became war riders protected the border from minor attacks, but… we are in a dire situation now," he paused and heaved a deep sigh, then lowered his head. "A Great War might be upon us—a war we haven't seen for long."
