Tears welled in Ryn's eyes as he listened to Sylas recount the tragic tale of how he became a cursed prince.
"My father wanted me to embody the dragon's reborn, but his ambition destroyed my life and left me cursed by this dragon soul," Sylas said, his voice laced with a bitter scoff. "Because of his choices, my mother was killed. When I enrolled at Draconic Academy and failed to bond with a dragon, I was ridiculed, cast out, and exiled from the palace."
Ryn's tears spilled over, streaming down his cheeks. He couldn't fathom that another father could be crueler than his own.
When Sylas noticed Ryn's tears, he turned to him, gently taking his hand. "Please, don't cry for me," he pleaded, rising from his seat to kneel before Ryn. "I shared this story because we're bonded, and…" Sylas paused, wiping the tears from Ryn's face with a tender touch. "And because I trust you enough to bare my soul to you," he murmured.
