The fourth industrial ward continued working around them. A scrap cart passed the alley, a tinsmith hammered two doors down, and someone upstairs argued about rent. Nobody in the street knew what had happened.

"The outer ward was reset within the last day," Seraphine said, one palm extended. "Whoever did it used the shop's own key sequence."

"The ventilation shut before the furnace," Vyra said after circling the building twice. "That let the shop cool without smoke. They knew its routine."

"Nobody alive inside, Young Master," Loriel said. "Not hiding or unconscious. No heartbeat anywhere."

Ira had her hand on her lance. "Then let me open it."

"No." Leon sent his perception through the door, its frame, and the floor beyond. "Two pressure triggers under the mat and a collapse rig in the front-room ceiling. Give me six minutes."

He took nine, and they went in through the side.
