Chapter 51 - Danjin. Part 3

Danjin finished her food and immediately began to walk around Ragunna, trying to see if she could somehow remember something, anything at all.

After all, she's been feeling a sense of... Deja vu since earlier.

Specifically when that blond haired acolyte walked by.

Of course, she at first thought that it was just her hallucination, but after holding the unknown sword...

Something just clicked.

She figured that finding that girl would take priority in this case, perhaps she would know something.

Even if she doesn't, it'll help if it could somewhat jog her memories a little.

Of course, she'd probably need a bigger stimulation to actually break through whatever it is that's messing with her brain.

If it could mess with her memories... it could probably mess with her internal frequencies as well.

Seeing as to how she's still alive, it did not do so.

For what reason would it only need to mess with memories?

"...I need some kind of lead."

There's way too little information to actually start making conclusions. She'd need more questions with answers.

Perhaps she'd be able to piece together a story. One that is hidden at the back of her mind.

With that in mind, Danjin quickened her pace, trying to find the blond haired acolyte.

'There she is!' Quickly, she noticed the back of a familiar figure.

"Um! Excuse me!" Danjin called out in a hurry.

"Ah, yes? Do you need something?" The girl turned around, her round face becoming more clear.

As Danjin looked at that face... yes, it seemed familiar. But she had never actually seen it.

"Have... we met before?"

"...? Perhaps you've seen me in ceremonies before, but I don't think I've ever met you in person." The girl responded.

"Oh. Then, could you tell me your name?"

"I am Phoebe, an acolyte of the Order."

"Why are you both watching me?"

'...'

She heard it, the voice of a girl.

One she's never ever come across.

But she found the voice quite pleasing to the ear.

This girl... Phoebe, she's one of the key pieces required to open up the vault of memories.

"Phoebe."

"Indeed, that is my name. What about you?"

"...Danjin, I am affiliated with the Midnight Rangers from Jinzhou."

"Jinzhou? That's in Huanglong... Quite far from here."

"Yes, but I would like to ask for you a favor."

Phoebe looked at the redhead in front of her. A Ranger from Jinzhou.

She seemed to plea, her face scrunched up.

But it appears that she herself doesn't notice these changes.

"...Whatever it is that needed help, I shall lend my aid. Tell me what is bothering you."

"Please stick with me for a while, I have some things that needed confirmation."

"In that case, I'll be glad to be of help. Just ask me anything."

"Thank you."

[Wuthering Waves]

"...So there's around 4 more days before the Carnevale begin. In the morning of the 5th day, the Carnevale would start. I got it."

It was now night time, the sun had just fallen and the moon overtook the sky.

Not much happened the whole day other than them just walking around, following Danjin's instinct to wherever her feet leads her.

And just like that, the day passed by.

It's quite fortunate that the amount of time required to fix her personal sword is also 4 days.

In which case, she'd be able to wield it comfortably. After all, this... sword that she's currently in possession of, it doesn't feel comfortable in her hand.

Most probably related to her incomplete memories.

Even if her memories betrayed her, her body remembered.

"It's getting quite late now. Don't you want to return to your home?"

"It doesn't matter, I was planning on camping outside for the remainder of my time here."

"Eh? But that's not comfortable! How about this? You see, I have a couple of rooms free in my own accommodation! Why don't you stay with me instead? It'll definitely be better than living out in the wild..."

"...This. This has happened before."

"...?"

"Nothing, I was just talking to myself."

Danjin changed the topic. After all, she still couldn't guarantee anything at all. It could just be her imagination, this whole thing.

But since it's her that's affected, it's alright to just experiment a little bit.

"Anyway, are you sure it's alright for me to live with you?"

"Yes! I'd like that actually. It's quite lonely living inside such a big house alone..."

"In that case, I'll be in your care."

"Same to you!"

With that said and done, they walked towards Phoebe's house. It wasn't located that far away from their previous location, so they quickly reached the destination.

It was a two story house.

They entered the main door and the first thing Danjin took notes of were the couches.

It happened in an instant, a silhouette of a small girl sleeping on it appeared.

Then, she looked towards the restroom, a silhouette of a small girl also appeared in an instant, just coming out of it.

'...'

"The two room upstairs are free. You can pick either one of them if you'd like. Don't worry, I live alone. So, nobody would disturb you."

"Thanks for the heads up."

"It's nothing. It's the first time I've had someone coming over to my house too. So, I do apologize if my way of treating you seemed out of place."

"I won't hold it against you even if that's the case."

After all, this blond girl had become a massive lead in her deduction.

Perhaps, more interactions would even lead to clearer memories appearing.

With all said and done, Phoebe made her way to the kitchen, probably about to create dinner.

Danjin, meanwhile, went up the stairs and opened one of the door leading to an empty white room.

A bed, a closet, and a window.

The window was wide open, letting the night light seeps in and the windy weather swipe the atmosphere.

As she made her way towards the window, she swiped a finger onto the window's frame.

'...A bit dusty. Probably haven't been cleaned in a while.'

Well, that makes sense since nobody was using it.

Thump Thump

As she turned to the left... her heartbeat quickened at the sight of the closet.

Just from a glance, it also looked a bit dusty. But...

She gripped the handle and hesitantly opened the closet.

There it was, stuck onto a hanger.

"There is no happy ending--"

A blue jacket.
