Chapter 7 - CHAPTER 7

In a matter of a few seconds, the elevator stopped at our level, and the duo stepped out.

"Have a great day, and yeah, I'll catch you up later," Christopher smiled and proceeded in the direction of his room.

"I saw that! Now tell me everything! Don't leave out a detail," I heard the quite irritating voice utter beside me.

"Not now, Tiffany, I've had a lot today already," I kept walking, making my way to my office, with Tiffany struggling to follow me, held her tab.

"You know I'm not going to believe that, right?"

"I have nothing to say. Maybe you can meet him for the information instead."

Tiffany rolled her eyes. "I wanna hear it from you. The story is always sweeter from the source."

I rolled my eyes at Tiffany and went into my beautiful and luxurious office. It had a visitation section on one side where I could relax and receive visitors and the other side of the office had my working space with a nearby bathroom.

"Okay let me try?" I asked as I moved around my desk.

"He reminded you of the date and you got angry."

"How did you guess?"

"Girl, I know everything!!! The last time he asked you, you made up an excuse and gave today's date as your free day. So he did well by waiting for you at the reception to remind you," Tiffany smiled.

"He waited?" I frowned.

"Of course he did. He stopped by earlier to ask for you. I told him that you hadn't returned yet. I spotted him across the glass wall heading towards the elevator. He definitely remained downstairs to talk to you so that you wouldn't back out."

"So?"

Tiffany's grin broadened. "We need to set a date right?"

"Worry about what to wear, don't. I will get something really chic and sexy."

I glared at Tiffany.

"What? Don't look at me like that. I'm just here to assist."

"No help is needed. There is no date. I'll come up with an excuse," I muttered, sitting on my chair.

"What excuse?"

"I don't know. That Melissa got sick. I'm sure I'll come up with something by tonight."

"You've already used that excuse. Give Melissa a break and stop using her for your tricks.".

"Too early to start this argument, Kathie. Need just my coffee and just want to just get into it and work."

"This will be the 9th date you're canceling with Christopher."

"Per-fect?! Had no idea you were keeping track."

"What are you afraid of, Onn?"

"Terrified? Of course, I'm not afraid of anything."

"Liar!"

Tiffany sat down on the visitor's chair facing me.

"You're a dreadful Liar!"

"Don't go, Kathie. With all my apologies, can't he just realize that I have no use for whatever he has planned? "Don't be cruel. I'm sure that he is aware of that. That's why he specified that you two become friends first. He has waited patiently enough if you ask me. And at least, you should go out with him on a friendly dinner date."

"Date of a friendly nature or not, I don't care. Especially not an in-office romance."

"Babe, you do see that not everyone's going to be him, don't you?"

"I don't care! I just want to be able to focus on my career and my daughter."

"Or you're looking down at him because he's only a manager but you're the senior manager and your pay is slightly more than his."

"I wouldn't look down on Christopher if I were you. He also has a few investments. He inherited the face too, so?"

"Oh G od, Kathie. Can you just keep quiet and inform me about what is on my agenda today?"

I massaged my temple.

"How am I going to tell you what is on your agenda if I keep quiet?"

I sighed. "You're gonna kill me in this office."

Tiffany was giggling. "Christopher is a nice guy. I might have run a background check on him so there's nothing to worry about."

"Fine, I'll stop talking about him," she replied to the stare I gave her.

"Today is Christopher's birthday. I do not know how I forgot. I wanted to tell you yesterday.".

"Great! Now you have to guilt trip me!"

"No. It's your fault. You were the one who agreed to go out with him today, not realizing that you chose his birthday."

"He didn't say anything to me when I met him."

"Well, that is because he is not always loudmouthed about his birthdays. He primarily celebrates by himself back home."

"And how do you know that?"

"I stalk him, remember?"

"Look, Kathie, you can have him if you like."

"No. He's not my type. I just like him for you because you both suit each other."

"Last one, I'll get a dress for you anyway. In case you change your mind."

"By the way, How's Melissa?"

"Since you all prefer Melissa over me, then I'll advise you to get her personal contact."

Tiffany laughed. "What's not to love about that little angel? I love her."

I grinned with pride and nodded. "I couldn't imagine my life without her."

"I'm pleased with you both but now let's focus on business," Katherine said, swiping through the tab in front of her.

"Nicholas is going to bring soon with the coffee. You have a meeting with the board at 11. You need to complete the project of the new product and send it to the Boss for presentation viewing which is due in three days."

I nodded, my fingers typing across the keyboard on my laptop.

"Then you have an outdoor meeting at 2 pm."

I looked up from the laptop. "Which meeting?"

With a new client. They have a proposal to offer us. It has something to do with some kind of partnership. The Boss told you to meet with him. They want to get your opinion on whatever the Client's business has up their sleeve."

I nodded to remind myself.

"Anything else?"

"That's all for today."

"Glad to hear that because I don't think I would last long in the office today.".

"Linda called in sick today so I'm stuck with Sophie. I have to go pick her up at school."

"Okay. But I'm sure the meeting would not be long and just for your information, I am available tonight in case you need me to babysit her so that you can go out on the date."

I looked angrily at my assistant who was smiling on her face.

I plunged into work, had my meeting, ate a light lunch, then was ready to exit the office at a few minutes past 1 pm for my outside meeting with a Client.

I reached the cafe at 1:52 pm sharp.

"Thank you," I replied with a smile to the security who opened the door for me.

Anora's Coffee was once a very busy cafe. in. the area and now it was almost. empty with. only. a few customers. inside of it.
