Marie's POV
I don't know what came over me. I had always pretended that whenever Mancini wanted, I never liked to talk back at him or get on his nerves because I knew what that meant for me. I knew what was coming.
Mancini muttered to himself throughout the drive. Most of what he said was about how he would deal with everyone and show them he's the boss. I was tired of hearing him complain about the same thing over and over.
I watched the houses as we zoomed past in the car, dreading our own house. We got closer, and my heart regretted challenging him. It was Marcus who made me feel like I could get away with some things. Mancini wasn't one to bluff. He always did what he said he would, and Marcus and Deanna were the ones who needed to watch their back and be careful. I worried for them but knew that there was no need cause I couldn't do anything.
