Chapter 163 - Chapter 163: Training the Mafuba

Master Roshi restrained his perverted expression, coughed twice, and returned to a serious look. He gazed at Raditz and said earnestly: "For those with excellent aptitude, the Mafuba isn't difficult to master. I don't think you'll have any problems."

Raditz nodded.

Even Tien had quickly mastered it in a short time. Although it didn't work out, it could still be considered learned. Raditz thought his aptitude was better than Tien's!

As a technique that could seal invincible power, the Mafuba came at an extreme cost.

The user had to consume enormous ki to unleash the Mafuba's power. If the opponent was too strong, they might be completely drained. Master Mutaito had died after sealing Demon King Piccolo due to energy depletion.

Moreover, there was a risk of the Mafuba being reversed. Those who understood the mechanism could likely turn the seal back on the user!

Despite many flaws, the Mafuba's effect was still amazing—from demon kings to gods, nothing was immune.

"Come to the beach when you're ready." Master Roshi waved his hand and gestured for Raditz to follow.

The two came to the clear seaside where wave after wave caressed the beach with the wind, crystal waters shining like bright pearls. In the distance, seagulls flew with crows, circling in the air and leaving traces of their flight...

"Watch closely!" Master Roshi took off his sunglasses and tossed them back coolly. "HAH!" With his exclamation, he suddenly raised his hands, five fingers spread wide, muscles on the backs of his hands standing out.

The seawater seemed attracted to the Turtle Hermit and began fluctuating, producing violent disturbances. Soon, the seawater rose, swirled, and soared like a tornado before stirring into a silver dragon.

With Master Roshi's arm movements, the water dragon circled endlessly, forming circular arcs and flying in loops.

Master Roshi used seawater to simulate the Mafuba's operation—agile and effortless.

"As expected of Master Roshi," Raditz admired sincerely.

Although Earthlings' fighting power couldn't match world-destroying alien monsters, new forces always emerged to protect themselves and their homes. This was humanity's tenacity.

Raditz memorized the essentials of Master Roshi's Mafuba. The main points were maintaining continuous ki flow and rotating at high speed, dragging the sealed target into an inescapable vortex.

Most importantly—accuracy! The Mafuba's most common failure was missing the target. Any deviation meant all previous efforts were wasted!

"Raditz, try it."

"Right!"

Raditz, who'd been eager to start, agreed and began immediately.

Raising his hand to gather ki, he gradually separated part of the seawater from the vast ocean, then shook vigorously. The water pattern flowed and began circling at high speed!

"The direction's off!" Raditz suddenly shouted in surprise.

He found his water dragon spinning beyond his control, tilting to one side.

"Hold on, maintain the speed."

"Got it!" Raditz tried his best to maintain control, his expression changing slightly.

The seemingly simple control reflected martial arts' subtlety. The more mature one's control of strength and energy, the better they could understand this.

In the end, Raditz's wavering water dragon rushed downward, hitting the sea surface and blasting up a water spout.

The splashing seawater left both of them feeling like they'd taken a bath. On the wave-beaten sea, fine white foam turned into billowing mist.

Master Roshi laughed: "Very refreshing! Hahahaha, not bad for a first attempt."

"Still a long way to go. I'll spend a day learning the Mafuba, then surpass Super Saiyan."

"Surpass... Super Saiyan?" Master Roshi asked in surprise. "Is that really possible?"

"Goku thinks so too and is working hard toward it."

"Well..."

Master Roshi was silent for a while. Although he had profound martial arts insights, his power level was far behind the Saiyans, so he couldn't comment.

After chatting briefly, Raditz started practicing again.

Seawater splashed repeatedly as sounds of "drink" and "hah" continued endlessly.

No matter what martial art, practice was needed to master it properly. Ability, familiarity, refinement, mastery, transformation—each progressive level required extensive practice as foundation. Raditz understood this principle well.

That's why he put so much effort into training.

After Raditz reached a certain proficiency level, Master Roshi brought out a rice cooker and demonstrated how to accurately pour seawater into it.

Raditz followed suit, trying his best to get every detail right.

At the horizon.

Kami observed the world with his own eyes while Mr. Popo stood behind him.

As Earth's Guardian, he spent most days monitoring the world and understanding all living beings' movements. Especially characters worthy of attention—it used to be Son Goku, now there was Raditz too.

Behind him, Goku was exercising intermittently—doing one-handed handstands, punching and kicking—while checking the time and waiting for Vegeta to emerge.

"One day suddenly feels so long. I can't wait anymore," Goku murmured as he threw a punch.

With his "HAH," the wind from his fist roared loudly, toppling a row of trees and leaves.

"Goku, restrain your ki a little. If you're too strong, the Lookout won't be able to handle it. You're a Super Saiyan now," Kami said without turning around.

Despite his age, he remained spirited.

Mr. Popo looked at the Lookout worriedly, his throat bobbing as he felt strong wind blow across his face—quite frightening.

Though this was normal force, it was already powerfully intimidating, completely different from the previous Son Goku.

"Yes, Mr. Goku's strength is simply too powerful," Mr. Popo agreed wholeheartedly.

But Goku smiled and sweated. "My brother's stronger than me—I have to hurry and catch up." As he spoke, he attacked again, causing more wind waves.

Kami shed a sweat drop: "I feel the same way. You truly are brothers. Goku, you're already strong enough, and Raditz's strength is even more bottomless. But the technique he's learning is the Mafuba that sealed Demon King Piccolo long ago. What kind of monster could push him to this point?"

"It's a fighter stronger than Raditz. Just thinking about it gets me excited—like facing Frieza, my whole body's pumped up!"

The Saiyan blood in Goku's veins boiled. The stronger Broly became, the more interesting he found it.

Vegeta in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber shared this sentiment. At that moment, Vegeta was training intensively. Though alone, he was more energetic than ever.

He wanted to surpass Goku, surpass Raditz, surpass Super Saiyan! Even surpass that Broly!

With a long shout, Vegeta transformed into golden light as his aura soared.

Immediately after, rigorous training began...
