Chapter 154 - The Diary Series (#5) - Noa

Entry #255

The new school year has begun.

Thanks to my peers voting me in as the Student Council President at the end of the last school year, I have officially taken my position today.

I look forward to the work and the growth this experience will offer me over the next two years, as I have no intention of losing the reelection.

My second-in-command, Tadano Itsuki-san, seems quite competent.

This will be helpful in the future, and I hope to build an excellent cooperative relationship with him in order to maximize our interests and improve Souhei High's student experience to the best of our capabilities.

Unlike in the past, where I shamelessly used this Journal to vent, I shall focus more on recording my journey as the Student Council President, which will help me record, analyze, and improve my actions and decisions over time.

End.

Entry #256

The first day passed uneventfully.

Aside from paperwork regarding the various clubs preparing their itineraries for the school year, I was also informed by the upper management to keep an eye on a possible troublemaker in the first year.

Apparently, this junior's family has significant ties with the Yakuza, and has caused a lot of trouble while he was in middle school.

Such people should not have made it into a school as prestigious as this in the first place, but I shall maintain impartiality at this time.

Unfortunately, it seems my previous sentiment was accurate.

Yagami Reiji, the aforementioned delinquent, has punched a fellow student today.

The victim ended up with a bleeding nose and claims that Yagami Reiji threw the first punch merely because he stared at him too long.

The details of the case have yet to be examined, and his statement needs to be verified before it is taken as fact, but eyewitnesses have reported the same story.

I summoned Yagami Reiji to the office for a reprimand, but he has shown no remorse or understanding of the matter.

His clear irritation in my presence speaks volumes about his character, and it seems as if he does not plan to stop such behaviour, at least in the short term.

I have placed his file under review for a stricter punishment from upper management, which might act as a sufficient wake-up call.

Entry #263

Yagami Reiji has caused more trouble again.

On this occasion, he fought three seniors in the third year because they bought the last can of coffee from the vending machine.

Even though there was a different brand still available.

From this, we can somewhat tell that the reason doesn't have to be anything justifiable, and he may just be looking for a random excuse to let loose.

I am considering suspending him, but I simply don't have the power to do so.

The principal asked me to give him another chance, and that she will grant my request if he crosses the line again.

Which might not take long.

In other news, there have been meetings about making the entry requirements for some of the more specialized clubs a little more strict, prioritizing quality over quantity.

This has come to light recently due to the added benefits and prizes for the winners of the Club Fest next year, though I don't have any particular opinion on this matter.

One other point to note is the fact that I have some reservations about my Vice President.

He has been looking at me with a strange gaze lately when he thinks I'm not paying attention, although I can't really tell why.

It doesn't seem to be lust, something I've become proficient in noticing because of how often it is directed my way, nor does it seem to be hatred.

I considered the second part only because I won my position by beating him in the election, through which he might have harbored negative feelings about, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Either way, he is efficient in his tasks, so I'll simply keep an eye out and let it slide for now.

End.

Entry #271

As expected, Yagami Reiji did not waste too much time before crossing the line once again, attacking another student for the third time since this school year began just a few weeks ago.

And this time, it was the secretary of my Student Council who was slapped for reminding him to correct his behavior.

He has caused some other trouble before this, like talking back to the teachers, not handing in homework assignments, and intimidating his peers, but none of that was enough to warrant a suspension.

But now that is no longer the case.

Although it'll only be for two days, hopefully, that is sufficient time for him to reflect on his actions and demeanor at school.

Entry #284

I had quite the scare today.

When I went to pick Sora up, his teacher informed me that he had gone missing during their field trip, and no one noticed until they returned.

Just how irresponsible can someone whose job is to look after and supervise children be?

Thankfully, he wasn't badly hurt; otherwise, she would not have been able to retain her job by any means because both Father and Second Mother dote on him a lot.

I still plan to report her to the school board in any case, since this cannot happen in the future.

But what's even more surprising is Sora's recount of his day, and how he was saved by someone who was apparently wearing a uniform from Souhei High.

I never expected rabid dogs to be in the city, and I can't even imagine what would've happened if that student hadn't been there to save him.

He was even nice enough to take him to the hospital to treat his wound and drop him off at his school without even waiting for some sort of reward.

Such a kind-hearted person...a virtue that has become a rarity these days.

Especially when I heard that some other student, also wearing the same uniform, had run off instead of helping such a small child.

A pure waste of oxygen, pardon my language.

I will remember this act of kindness and look for him at school so that I can repay him properly.

In other news, I am a little bewildered.

Something quite astonishing happened at school.

I went to Yagami Reiji's class to summon him to my office for a reprimand, something that has become a bit of a habit at this point, but the person I interacted with seems completely different.

Setting aside his makeover, which I shall not comment on, his demeanor seemed more.....open.

Even though his usual arrogance and laziness were still there, he apologized for his actions and promised to reform from now on.

Which is why I'll let his slightly suggestive comment when he left slide.

In future meetings with him, I need to focus on my attitude, because it feels like he always manages to get under my skin.

About his so-called reformation, I want to believe him, but his track record speaks for itself, so I'm not expecting him to become Gandhi all of a sudden.

If he stops attacking people, that's a step in the right direction, and then I can give him some leeway with his other conduct in hopes that he'll keep taking those steps.

Regardless, it seems like the days ahead will be even busier, especially because Club Day is around the corner.

Entry #288

I may have made a mistake today.

No.

I definitely did.

Club Day was more than a little hectic, with a surplus of troublemakers who got swept up in the atmosphere and created numerous problems for the staff.

Some littered while eating snacks, others attempted to sneak into specific orientations multiple times, and there were even students who started a rap and dance battle in the middle of the hallway, where one of the students tripped multiple people while breakdancing.

I can't believe I just wrote that sentence.....

But the one that made me specifically angry was Yagami Reiji's announcement during the broadcasting club's orientation, which essentially poked fun at the Student Council.

I can take a joke (only if it's a good one), but his words undermined the council's authority, which is counterproductive to our goals and overall efficiency.

I even had one of the troublemakers bring that up when we were reprimanding them, and they didn't take us seriously.

In any case, at least he apologized for it, even though he tried to be really snarky about it by copying my technique of Absolute Silence.

How did he figure me out??

Maybe those two consecutive actions had already made me frustrated, but I crossed the line by questioning his club choices to his face.

Regardless of how ridiculous they seemed, each student has the right to apply for whichever club they want, even if they might not get in.

And I failed to keep my emotions in check, accusing him of various things because of my prejudice.

Well, we'll see how things play out, since he has to pass the entrance test for the cooking club, but it's at least good to see that he's taking the punishment of joining two clubs fairly well.

Now I have to focus on deciding whether or not to give a strike to the breakdancers for injuring some of the students.

End.

Entry #297

Hmmm.....

My previous claim that my Vice-President seems to have some strange thoughts about me might very well be accurate after all.

Nothing specific has happened, which is why I feel like I may just be paranoid, but the darkness in his gaze is definitely not something I am imagining.

I simply can't tell if he dislikes me or if it's the opposite.

We have knocked heads a few times on some decisions, where he feels I have been too lenient to some troublemakers and also need to introduce stricter standards for conduct.

But wouldn't that just make Souhei High a military school, if not a prison?

The stress is slowly getting to me.

The paperwork, the responsibilities, the conflict with Tadano Senpai, and the insufficient time I have to use on my academics.

It's exhausting.

Hm.

Hmmmm.

What the fuck is happening?

The one who saved Sora from those dogs...

Was that Yakuza delinquent????
