Chapter 79 - Chapter 76 – Letters, Lullabies, and a Growing Dream

The morning sun peeked over the hills of Uji, painting the sky in shades of gold and lavender. A gentle mist lingered above the tea rows, glistening in the early light like a silken veil. In the warmth of the newly renovated farmhouse, nestled between tradition and innovation, Phuby stood by the kitchen island stirring a pot of warm oatmeal while Hana hummed softly to the twins, cradling them near the window.

Haru and Yui had grown rapidly in just a few weeks. Their tiny fists flailed now with more control, and both had begun to recognize their parents' voices—cooing happily whenever Hana sang or when Phuby made his usual goofy faces during changing time.

Today, however, felt a little different. There was a light tension in the air, not unpleasant, but expectant—like the earth holding its breath just before a bloom.

Phuby checked his phone. He had received a message from the Kyoto Small Business Grant Office. They had reviewed his informal registration and wanted to conduct an in-person interview next week. It wasn't a competition for money, but rather for recognition, exposure, and access to exclusive agricultural events and sustainable farming networks.

"It's not about the grant," he muttered to himself. "It's about growing this… beyond just our little corner."

Hana noticed his furrowed brows as she gently rocked Haru in her arms.

"Everything okay?" she asked, stepping into the kitchen.

Phuby nodded. "The local Kyoto business council wants to meet. About the grant thing. I think it's a good opportunity, even if I don't need the money."

Hana smiled, placing Yui into her crib. "It's recognition. And it connects us with people who share our values."

"Exactly." Phuby turned back to his oatmeal. "We didn't build this place just for us. It's supposed to be something others can believe in too."

Later That Morning – Writing the Next Step

After breakfast, while Emi Fujiwara tidied the kitchen and prepared lunch for the day, Phuby sat down at his laptop. A new idea had bloomed in his head overnight, spurred by the hint the system had given him about "land used for sustainable agriculture." He was curious. Could this trigger new benefits later on?

So, he began to document everything.

Not in code or data spreadsheets—but in story.

He opened a blank document and started writing: their journey from Cirebon to Kyoto, the unexpected proposal in Arashiyama, the surprise twins, the Hinoki bath, the farmers they had hired… the vision of creating a small sustainable oasis that blended traditional Japanese culture with modern eco-living.

Hana walked by and peeked over his shoulder.

"You're writing a memoir?" she teased.

"More like a story," he replied. "I want to make a blog for Uji Garden Produce. Not just a shop, but something personal."

"I love that," she said, kissing his cheek. "And you're a good storyteller."

Afternoon – Baby Giggles and Business Talks

The rest of the day was filled with the simple joys that now made up Phuby and Hana's life.

Yuji Tani had come in with a proposal for rotating tea and vegetable rows to optimize soil fertility. Yuriko brought in the morning's harvest, her hands quick and practiced as she sorted through the lettuce and herbs. Kenta stopped by later, discussing seasonal changes and weather patterns, giving advice like a sage of the fields.

Even Emi joined the conversation while chopping vegetables, suggesting new dishes that could be offered through a subscription box idea Hana had casually mentioned the other day.

There was laughter, shared tea, and even a few baby giggles as Haru startled himself by sneezing and then smiling about it. The farmhouse wasn't just home now—it was a hub of warmth, creativity, and small-town charm.

Evening – A Soft Delivery and a System Surprise

Just as the sky turned orange and pink, a soft chime echoed from Phuby's phone.

System Notification:🎁 Additional System Bonus Unlocked"Congratulations! Sustained use of sustainable land + excellent management + community involvement."🎉 New Item Category Available Next Week: Farm-to-Table Infrastructure

Phuby read it aloud to Hana, his eyes wide with curiosity.

"What does that even mean?" she asked.

"No clue. But I think the system's rewarding us for actually treating this like a real community-based farm."

"Which it is," Hana added proudly. "We're not influencers pretending to be farmers. We're actually doing it."

"Exactly."

Then, almost as if timed with divine comedic precision, the twins both started crying at once.

"Showtime," Hana whispered.

Night – A Family Letter from Cirebon

After the twins were bathed, fed, and finally asleep, Phuby and Hana sat in the living room. The kotatsu heater kept their legs warm as they scrolled through their inbox.

There was a message from Mrs. Wulan, complete with photos of the mansion in Cirebon.

The mango trees are blooming. I sent some to Palm Sari. Om Luky misses his car more than he misses me, I think. 😂 But the business is going well! Oh, and your grandma wants to know when she gets to meet the twins in person. She's planning something. I'm scared.

Phuby laughed until his stomach hurt.

He typed back:

Tell her soon. And tell Om Luky he's getting a new car someday. He just doesn't know it yet.

Hana nudged him.

"Hey… after the grant interview next week, let's plan a short trip to Cirebon. Just a week. The babies will be fine on a short flight, right?"

"They'll be with us," Phuby said confidently. "They'll be fine."

A Quiet Ending

Outside, wind rustled the bamboo stalks.

Inside, peace reigned. Hana leaned against Phuby, her head resting on his shoulder, her eyes slowly closing.

"You're happy?" he whispered.

She nodded. "Happy, calm, and excited. All at once."

"So am I."

The room dimmed, and the night wrapped itself around the farmhouse like a blanket. Another day in Uji had passed—but dreams continued to grow.

And far above, as the system quietly processed the day's blessings, it flickered once—calculating something greater in store.
