I wake to the gentle weight of Kaelen's arm draped over my waist, his warmth radiating against my back. For a moment, I allow myself to savor the peace, the knowledge that the blackmail crisis has been resolved.
"Good morning, little human," Kaelen murmurs against my ear, his voice still rough with sleep.
I turn in his arms, finding his green eyes already alert and watching me. "How long have you been awake?"
"Long enough to enjoy watching you sleep," he admits, brushing a strand of hair from my face. "You talk in your sleep, you know."
Heat rushes to my cheeks. "I do not!"
His lips quirk up in that half-smile that makes my heart skip. "Do too. Nothing incriminating... yet."
Before I can protest further, a knock at the door interrupts us. Kaelen tenses slightly, then relaxes.
"It's Elara," he says, his enhanced senses picking up what I cannot.
I bolt upright, grabbing my phone to check the time. "Our Luna lessons! I completely forgot!"
