I tilted my head to the side, studying Kaelen's imposing figure. His broad shoulders strained against his tailored suit jacket, and his green eyes gleamed with that unique mix of exasperation and desire I'd come to recognize so well. Despite his stern demeanor, there was a softness in his gaze that hadn't been there weeks ago.
"What do I have to say for myself?" I repeated, batting my eyelashes innocently. "I say I've been a very good girl today, Alpha." I deliberately let my voice drop at the end, watching with satisfaction as his pupils dilated slightly.
Kaelen's jaw tightened. "Flattery and flirtation won't distract me from the fact that you're supposed to be resting, Seraphina."
"But I got so bored just lying there," I pouted, taking a step closer to him. I traced my finger down the lapel of his suit. "Besides, I've been perfectly fine all day. No dizziness, no fatigue. Just a woman going stir-crazy in bed... alone."
