Chapter 3 - chapter 3

"I carry so many regrets. My life has been nothing but remorse and bitterness. I wasted my precious years marrying a bastard who never truly loved me," Elena thought sorrowfully.

She saw nothing—only blackness and void. A heavy stillness pressed against her soul. Elena was certain she had died, and yet, even in death, there was only emptiness. No joy. No heaven. Nothing waited to welcome her.

"Darling?"

Elena frowned as she heard Jack's voice again. This time she didn't feel the joy and warmth she had felt before Jack had betrayed her, but rather annoyance and anger. But Elena felt that this was just her hallucination.

"Honey, wake up."

"Even when I'm dead, I'm still annoyed by that bastard," Elena muttered irritably.

"Elena, are you ok?"

Elena gasped, suddenly aware of her surroundings and blinded by the light that suddenly flooded into her eyes.

"J-Jack? W-why are you here?!" Elena screeched in annoyance.

Alarmed, Elena moved away from Jack, keeping her distance and grabbing a few items for protection.

"Wh-what do you mean Elena? Of course I'm here, this is our room," Jack said confused.

"Our room? No, wasn't I at the hospital and you two..."

Elena was silent, gaping and trying to understand the situation. Although Elena was still confused, she tried to calm down and understand the current situation.

Elena took out her smartphone and looked at the current time. Elena was stunned to find that it was now 2 weeks before the bad event happened to Elena. Elena tried to calm down, she caught her breath, but it was all interrupted by Jack, who kept asking her the same questions.

"Get away from me, damn it! You're a cheater, you're a traitor," Elena said with great annoyance.

Elena brushed away Jack's hand as it tried to reach her body, Jack showing his surprise and looking curious as to the reason for the change in Elena's attitude, which had always been gentle towards Jack, now becoming drastically violent.

"Hey, come on, tell me what I did wrong. You must have just been dreaming, you're so weird when you wake up," Jack said, trying to convince Elena.

Elena frowned, still unsure if what she saw was really something she experienced. It sounded ridiculous if there really was a person who rose from the dead and woke up in the past. It's just that what Elena experienced felt really real and not like a dream.

"Elena, please calm down and listen to me," Jack persuaded Elena.

"Ouch!" Elena winced softly.

When Jack's hand managed to grab Elena's wrist, Elena realised that something was hurting there. And Elena's eyes immediately rounded as she realised that it was some kind of injection mark on her wrist.

'Wait... Wasn't the injection I got from Jessica exactly the same as this mark on my wrist?' Elena thought to herself, trying to remember.

Having seen the injection marks on her wrist, Elena was even more convinced that what was happening to her was not a dream or a fantasy, but a real event. And Elena had really gone back in time, Elena had been given the chance to live a second time and to do what Elena wanted after learning Jack's true nature.

Flashback off

"Now take me to my late grandfather's home address," Elena said.

"Yes, Mistress. By my estimation, we should be there in about an hour and a half."

Elena and Edward then approached a luxurious and grand old house. There, Elena confidently stepped into a hidden room that no one knew what it contained.

After taking something from there, Elena left the house without anyone knowing what exactly Elena had prepared.

A few days later, news of Elena and Jack's divorce spread quickly. Especially after a post was made on Jessica's social media account showing her intimacy with Jack, which caught the public's attention even more.

"In three days' time, there will be a meeting between the owners of the company and a shareholders' meeting. Will you be attending?" Edward asked.

Elena, sitting in her living room, nodded. "Yes, we can't waste this moment. I have prepared a very nice dress for the party."

Three days later, company owners from all over the region gathered at a five-star hotel, reserved exclusively for conglomerates, for a business meeting and a festive dinner.

Luxury cars were parked neatly and everyone was fascinated. Including a black luxury limousine that stopped just outside the hotel lobby. Journalists eager to cover the arrival of the car's owner immediately swarmed the car.

"Ms. Jessica and Mr. Jack make such a perfect match. They truly are a striking couple."

"It's only natural that the owner of the Bellarogi Corporation would entrust Mr. Jack as his daughter's future husband. Although there was a past conflict involving the former owner of the Navoly Corporation, it must have been caused by Mr. Jack's ex-wife."

"Now that the Navoly Corporation has fallen into Mr. Jack's hands, there must have been some scandal on Mrs. Elena's part that led to her losing control of the company. How unfortunate."

There were so many rumours against Elena that Jack and Jessica smiled with satisfaction. The messengers who spread bad rumours on their orders had done their job properly.

"Hey, look at this car. Isn't that a car that only has 14 units in the world?"

Immediately everyone looked up and noticed a white luxury car, the car was very elegant and luxurious, even the attention that had been focused on Jack was now diverted to it.

The car door opened and everyone was surprised to see Elena Navoly get out of the car. Even though everyone already knew that Elena had no assets left after giving everything to Jack.

Jack and Jessica, who couldn't accept that Elena was stealing the public's attention, immediately approached the crowd.

"Long time no see, Mrs Elena," Jessica greeted sweetly. "I thought you weren't coming to this party because you were a bit late. Did you have trouble finding a suitable car to take you here?"

As everyone fell silent, they began to question the origin of the car Elena had brought to the event. Elena was still silent and then she smiled sardonically with grace.
