# CHAPTER 61 – "The Second Trial's Warning"
## POV: Vanessa
The path to the second artifact looks innocent enough. Just a dirt trail winding through dead trees and brown grass. But I can feel something wrong about this place. Air tastes like copper pennies and old fear.
"You sure this is the right way?" I ask Damien. He's been quiet for the past hour. More quiet than usual.
"According to the old maps this should lead to the Mirror of Sacrifice. But maps from that era ain't always reliable."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Means sometimes the places move. Sometimes they don't want to be found. Sometimes they only appear when they're ready for you."
Great. So we're wandering around looking for a magical artifact that might decide to play hide and seek.
The Heart of Unity pulses in my pocket. Getting warmer the farther we walk. That's something at least. Means we're heading in the right direction.
"Tell me about this Mirror," I say. "What's it supposed to do?"
