Ravenclaw corridors were never silent. Even if the night was dark outside, the quiet noises roamed like troubled spirits, holding on to wood and walls. Evelyn was accustomed to recognising them — workers' hushed conversations, warriors' sounds of whispering, the unmistakable presence of unhappiness. But tonight, the quiet noises sounded more frightening, as if the air was heavy with secrets.

George was the first to notice that something was not right. He was coming back from where they were practising, sweat still drying on his body, when he saw light coming from the meeting room. The meeting room was meant to be closed at this time, locked until the next day. He was curious, but his gut told him to proceed carefully. He made his way slowly, staying in the background, and edged closer until he could pick up conversation whispers.

"The Alpha is being too arrogant."

"He is defending the girl and hurting us all."

"If he will not listen, we must go to others for help."
