Mey and Eidonel stared at each other for a long while in silence. The only noise was Kai fighting the other angels.
Eidonel took a slow step forward, and Mey prepared for an attack, but none came.
The silence lasted only a minute longer before Eidonel spoke. His voice was warm and caring.
"Come back to our side, Mey."
Mey looked at him, her eyes narrowing in disgust, then she spat on the ground, pointed at it, and spoke. Her voice was cold and devoid of any emotion.
"That's what I think about your offer."
Eidonel let out a sigh before conjuring a sword of light.
"I gave you one last chance, Mey, don't blame me for what happens next."
Mey conjured shadows that wrapped around her body like armour.
Eidonel rushed forward so fast Kai couldn't even perceive his movements.
His sword bounced off of Mey's armour.
Mey chuckled and said, "Without light shadows would rule the world, Eidonel."
Eidonel scoffed then said, "But since light exists shadows have no place in this world, or the world in trying to create."
He then raised his sword slowly. The point was aimed at Mey's chest.
Eidonel slowly moved the sword forward. This time it pierced Mey's armour easily.
Mey hurriedly jumped back when she saw the sword pierce her armour.
"So, your sword responds to your will?"
Mey was now looking cautious. She no longer had that air of superiority.
Kai had been managing to fend off the two-winged angels. The six-winged angel had been standing back and observing Kai's fighting style.
Two of the angels attack from the left and right of Kai.
He duck down and kicked the angel to the left in his knee, caving it in, causing the angel to fall down onto his good knee.
Kai plunged his sword into the angels throat.
Runeheart has picked up on the other angel swinging downward with a sword of his own.
Kai made the sword disappear then reappear in his other hand to parry the downward strike.
Kai kicked upward with all his leg strength, breaking the posture of the angel. Kai then sliced downward cleaving the angel in 2 even pieces.
All that was left for Kai to defeat was two four-winged angel and the six winged angel.
His eyes went to Mey struggling against Eidonel.
He was fast, too fast for Mey to keep up, but Mey wasn't attacking her eyes were moving constantly.
She swung her sword made of shadows horizontally catching Eidonel in the face, leaving a nasty cut across the bridge of his nose.
"Well, that's going to be a shameful scar." Eidonel laughed. It wasn't a laugh because he found something funny. Kai had no idea why he was laughing, but there was no humor in his eyes.
"Your way of fighting always disgusted me, Eidonel, not even striking, just zipping around your opponent like gnat, a gnat that needs swatted."
Kai wondered what kind of history these might've had in the past to make Mey this hostile. She was always so calm.
Eidonel disappeared then reappeared 20 yards in front of Mey.
Eidonel opened his mouth to speak, but Mey raised a hand a stopped him. Then she waved her hand in her face.
"Gnats don't talk." She said coldly.
Eidonel started zipping around Mey again. She scoffed and swung her sword, catching Eidonel in the chest. But Eidonel had dodged just in time to keep the cut shallow.
"That won't work anymore, Eidonel. You're actually going to need to fight."
The air of superiority had returned, but it quickly vanished again as Eidonel conjured another light sword in his other hand.
Eidonel must be getting serious, Kai thought.
Eidonel kicked off the ground disappearing into the dust.
Mey was searching for him, but he was just too fast.
She was getting cuts all over her body, but she sat there and took the slashes.
She scoffed and held out her sword. Then there was a plume of dust. When the dust cleared Eidonel's nose was centimeters from Mey's sword.
"I thought I told you that won't work anymore? When you pulled out your second sword, I thought you were getting serious."
Kai's focus shifted back to the last angels when he heard a foot shuffle.
Just then the portal's light flared and out came a familiar white-haired, green-eyed girl.
Kai's voice caught in his throat, "Lyra."
Then Mey's voice rang in Kai's ears.
"Kai, GO!"
Kai was unstable Sovereign's Command flared as he yelled.
"EVERYONE STOP!"
Everyone froze, even Eidonel and Mey. Their eyes went wide.
"His potential was released that very instant, through his emotions. That why Sovereign's Command worked on everyone, even the people stronger than him." Eidonel said, breaking free as Mey also broke free.
"Go now, Kai. I'll be fine."
"No I won't,"
Kai was cut off as Mey appeared beside him. She picked him up and threw him into the portal.
Luminaris's spires and buildings disappeared as he reached his hand out for Mey.
Kai didn't know where he was. It was dark, but there was a light. He started walking towards it.
Suddenly something popped out of the shadows. It was threads. Red threads.
Kai has read multiple stories in which fate appears as red threads.
"Is this fate?" He said quietly.
A voice that sounded all through the darkness uttered a single word.
"Yes."
Then the threads started to move. They wrapped all around Kai and shot out from him.
Then the rest of threads formed a person that slowly walked towards Kai.
"You might not know it yet, but your fate is connected to a lot more people than you might think."
Kai looked at the speaking threads confusingly.
Then it pulled on of the threads connecting to Kai.
"This one is your friend, Mey. As long as this thread exists it means she's still alive."
"I have to get back to save her."
Kai's voice was shaking with guilt. Mey had saved him three times now. He even swore to himself he wouldn't let it happen again, but it had.
"You're not strong enough yet, but I can send you somewhere you can train to get stronger faster. It is disconnected from the time and space of all the realms. Think of it as a place where time does not pass, or passes very slowly. For every second that passes out here, an entire year passes within the Time Chamber."
"Well let's hurry up. I can't waste anymore time here while Mey is still in Luminaris, probably getting tortured."
Kai's voice was shaking with anger, not at the threads in the human shape but at himself, for not being able to get Mey out of there.
"Very well then."
