Chapter 388: Mo Luo and His Disciple Shocked!
"Not long ago, the Sect Master of Nine Nether Gate, the so-called Old Demon Jiuyou, appeared near the Flame Sea Region," Mo Luo said.
"His goal was to ambush and kill you—but I gave him a good lesson and drove him off."
"Old Demon Jiuyou…" Lin Fan raised an eyebrow. Then he cupped his fists.
"I'll have to thank Senior Mo Luo for that."
At the side, Mu Lingshan blinked and chimed in,
"Old Demon Jiuyou? What's so scary about him? Even if you hadn't made a move, he wouldn't have been able to kill us."
Tang Xinlian arched an elegant brow.
"Old Demon Jiuyou is a Samsara Stage expert. You three might be strong, but compared to a Samsara expert, there's still a large gap."
Mu Lingshan puffed out her chest with pride.
"So what? Big Brother Lin Fan's already killed a Samsara Realm before."
Tang Xinlian's gaze instantly shifted to Lin Fan, a trace of doubt flickering in her beautiful eyes.
Even Mo Luo looked somewhat surprised.
"Lin Fan, you've really killed a Samsara Realm cultivator?"
"Back when we were heading to the Thunder Sea Region, we were ambushed by the Lord of Evil Wind Cave Heaven, Wu Xuan," Lin Fan said, rubbing his nose.
"He underestimated me. That's why he died."
"You killed Wu Xuan?!" Tang Xinlian's eyes widened, visibly shaken.
The death of Wu Xuan had caused quite a stir in the Devil Chaos Sea.
Some had suspected Lin Fan might be involved, but most dismissed the idea. After all, Lin Fan had only been at Life Profound Realm Perfection back then—far from Wu Xuan's level.
Now it seemed the rumors had been true all along.
Mu Lingshan placed her hands on her hips and lifted her chin.
"Of course it's true! My third grandpa saw it with his own eyes. If you don't believe me, go ask the Undying Holy Whale Clan."
At her words, both Mo Luo and Tang Xinlian had no more doubts.
Tang Xinlian stared at Lin Fan as if he were a monster.
Mo Luo gave Lin Fan a long look, then chuckled.
"You've hidden deeper than I thought."
Even if Wu Xuan had underestimated Lin Fan, the fact that a Life Profound Realm could slay a Samsara Realm powerhouse was absolutely shocking.
If this spread, it would rock the entire Devil Chaos Sea.
"You've got to keep some cards up your sleeve when wandering the world," Lin Fan replied with a dry laugh.
"That's your idea of a 'little card'?!" Tang Xinlian rolled her eyes.
Lin Fan only shrugged.
At that moment, Lin Dong glanced over and asked,
"Senior Mo Luo, you mentioned Qing Zhi earlier. Will he be coming as well?"
"He'll arrive eventually," Mo Luo said with a nod.
"This operation is critical, so we need everything to be airtight. You're here to retrieve the Thunder Source, right?"
Lin Dong looked a little sheepish.
"Don't worry, Senior. I'll follow protocol. I won't take it until after the tournament is over."
"Protocol means becoming champion first," Mo Luo laughed, but then his tone turned serious.
"Actually, I called you here to talk about that."
Lin Fan smiled faintly.
"We're listening, Senior."
"You two already know the plan," Mo Luo began slowly.
"Until we force out a major Yi Mo presence, I don't want the truth about the Thunder Ancestral Symbol getting out."
Lin Dong's heart skipped a beat.
"You don't want me to use it as bait… do you?"
"Based on our intel," Mo Luo said gravely, "the Yi Mo won't reveal themselves easily. They're likely hiding in human bodies. They may even enter the Thunder Battle as legitimate competitors, win, and then claim the Thunder Symbol."
"You mean… a demon seed," Lin Fan said, eyes narrowing.
"Back on Heaven Thunder Island, those Yuan Gate guys had them inside them."
"Exactly. Demon seeds can unleash Yi Mo power at critical moments," Lin Fan added.
"So I was right," Mo Luo's eyes narrowed as he muttered.
He had felt something strange from Huo Yuan and the others in the Thunder Palace—but hadn't pressed the issue then. His focus had been on the Thunder Symbol.
"So this time, among the participants… some will likely have demon seeds inside them."
"And with so many contestants, we can't screen them all."
"If someone with a demon seed wins and takes the Thunder Symbol, our plan is finished."
"So we need a real human to win," Lin Fan said,
"To draw the Yi Mo into revealing themselves when they come to steal it."
"Exactly," Mo Luo nodded.
"Tang Xinlian is ranked second on the Rising Star Ranking," Lin Fan said. "Surely she can win."
"She's capable, but it's not guaranteed," Mo Luo said with a shake of his head.
Tang Xinlian pursed her lips and stayed silent, though her eyes flickered with frustration.
Lin Fan and Lin Dong exchanged a glance.
"Senior… are you worried about the number one on the ranking—Xu Xiu?"
"Yes," Mo Luo said simply.
"But with you here, Lin Fan—now that I know you've slain a Samsara expert—I believe you can win."
Tang Xinlian glanced at Lin Fan again, her expression growing complex.
Though she was proud, she knew when to place the greater good above herself. If Yi Mo were involved, she wouldn't act petty.
"No problem," Lin Fan said with a grin.
"If Xu Xiu is the problem, I'll handle him."
Mo Luo smiled approvingly, then tapped the back of his chair, hesitating briefly before speaking again.
"There's someone else you'll need to be wary of."
"Who?" Tang Xinlian asked curiously.
"A man from Yuan Gate in the Eastern Xuan Region," Mo Luo replied slowly. "His name is Hua Chen."
At that name, Lin Dong's pupils constricted sharply.
Lin Fan, however, wasn't surprised. He smiled faintly.
"Well, that works out. Tang Xinlian and I can each take one. Yuan Gate and us have… history."
