Chapter 93: Why Do People Always Seek Death?
"In about five months, the seal on the Great Wilderness Ancient Monument will weaken again,"
Jiang Lei said with a smile. "That's why more and more people are heading to the Great Wilderness Province now. I asked earlier because I figured you might be among them."
Lin Fan smiled slightly.
"Thank you, Master Jiang. Since our timing aligns, we'll definitely go take a look."
"With your strength, Young Master Lin, you'll surely gain something from the Ancient Monument," Jiang Lei replied sincerely.
"Haha, I'll take that as a blessing," Lin Fan chuckled confidently.
Jiang Lei then chatted with the trio about the powers in the Great Wilderness Province.
The three major factions—Yin Puppet Sect, Great Demon Sect, and the Martial Alliance—were described in the most detail.
Amid the laughter and conversation, another half day passed, and the group finally emerged from the mist-covered region.
As the warm sunlight broke through and bathed them once more, the weary members of the Eagle Martial Hall let out cheers of joy.
Lin Fan also felt his body relax under the gentle warmth.
"Young Master Lin, why don't you come back to Great Eagle City with us?" Jiang Lei offered.
"You're new to the area. It would be good to spend a few days learning the local geography and power structures. It'll help your future journeys."
Lin Fan looked at Qingtan and Lin Dong.
"What do you think?"
Qingtan smiled sweetly. "I'll go with whatever Brother Lin Fan says."
Lin Dong nodded. "Master Jiang makes a good point."
"Alright, we'll trouble you then," Lin Fan agreed with a smile.
Jiang Lei was delighted. "It's our honor to host you."
With the decision made, the convoy headed directly for Great Eagle City without pause.
By late afternoon, they arrived at the massive city and made their way through broad streets, stopping in front of the imposing Eagle Martial Hall.
"The master has returned!"
The guards at the gate cheered loudly upon seeing the caravan.
Moments later, a swarm of people flooded out from the martial hall. It was far grander and livelier than the Crazy Blade Martial Hall back in Qingyang Town.
"Master! You're back!"
A senior member of the martial hall approached Jiang Lei, a trace of anxiety on his face.
Jiang Lei's smile faded. He waved for the man to stop speaking and then turned to his daughter,
"Xue'er, take Young Master Lin and his companions to rest. Prepare the best rooms."
"Father?" Jiang Xue noticed something and asked quietly.
"Go on," Jiang Lei said, clearly unwilling to speak more at the moment.
With no other choice, Jiang Xue nodded and led Lin Fan's group to their quarters.
Later, Lin Dong came to Lin Fan's room.
"Brother Lin Fan, it seems like the Eagle Martial Hall has some trouble."
Lin Fan smiled faintly.
"Conflict is inevitable no matter where you go. It's nothing surprising."
"Should we help?" Lin Dong asked.
"We'll see how things go," Lin Fan replied casually.
After a brief chat, Lin Dong returned to his own room.
Lin Fan then took out the Thunderflash Sword Art he had drawn from the system and began studying it.
The technique had three forms:
Thunderstrike Slash – focuses on unmatched speed; one strike as fast as lightning, aiming to kill instantly.Fivefold Thunderfall – a wide-area attack; one slash summons thunder across a hundred-meter radius.Swordbound Thunderflash – controls the sword with Yuan Power, striking from thousands of meters away like a bolt of thunder.
Lin Fan was very satisfied—it paired perfectly with his Thunder Sword.
Since it wasn't suited for indoor practice, he simply cultivated Heavenly Profound Art for a while before going to bed.
The next morning.
Jiang Xue was already waiting outside their room.
The group had agreed she would take them around to buy maps of the Great Wilderness Province and learn about local powers.
Lin Fan and the others didn't keep her waiting. They were soon ready.
They also ran into Jiang Yinyin, the little girl, who insisted on tagging along when she heard about the outing.
Jiang Xue couldn't say no and let her come.
Now five people plus Huo'er and Xiao Yan, the group left the martial hall and headed to some of the city's trading districts.
These places not only sold goods but also valuable intelligence.
With Jiang Xue guiding them, they quickly completed their purchases.
As they left the trading district, Jiang Xue suddenly slowed down, her expression darkening as she looked ahead.
Lin Fan followed her gaze and saw over a dozen people approaching, all bearing the emblem of a bloody vulture on their chests.
The Blood Vulture Martial Hall.
Recognizing the emblem, Lin Fan immediately understood who they were.
"Well, if it isn't Xue'er. What a coincidence."
The group stopped in front of them. The man leading them twirled a folding fan and grinned at Jiang Xue.
He looked about twenty-four or twenty-five, with somewhat feminine features and a creepy smile that made everyone uncomfortable.
"We're leaving," Jiang Xue said coldly. She turned to Lin Fan and the others. "Let's go."
"Xue'er, after so long, not even a greeting?"
The man's eyes locked on Jiang Xue, gaze burning.
His subordinates smiled and stepped forward to block their path.
"Luo Shan, move!"
Jiang Xue's voice turned icy.
"Tsk tsk, that attitude won't help you. You should know, the Blood Vulture Martial Hall has officially challenged your Eagle Martial Hall. Our fathers will fight to the death."
Luo Shan smiled with twisted pride.
"By the way… my father has reached late-stage Form Creation Realm."
"What?!"
Jiang Xue's face turned pale.
"Hmph. You know how I feel about you. If you join me, maybe your martial hall will have a future."
Luo Shan's gaze turned lecherous, roaming over Jiang Xue's curves.
"Keep dreaming!"
Jiang Xue trembled with rage.
"You'll come to me eventually," Luo Shan said smugly.
Then he turned to glance at Lin Fan and Lin Dong.
"Don't bring these nobodies with you. I don't like the look of them."
"Mm… but that beauty and the little girl? They're not bad," he added, his eyes lingering on Qingtan and Yinyin with a greedy gleam.
"Brother Lin Fan, his eyes are disgusting,"
Qingtan whispered as she hid behind him.
Luo Shan's face darkened.
"Grab the girl. Let her learn what disgusting really means!"
Two members of the Blood Vulture Martial Hall immediately stepped toward Qingtan.
"Why… do people always insist on courting death?"
A cold gleam flashed in Lin Fan's eyes as he muttered in a low, chilling voice.
