Chapter 91: With One Sword, Thunder Strikes!
"What the hell is this place? Why can't we get out of here?"
In a primeval forest shrouded in thick white mist, Lin Dong rubbed his hands together, looking annoyed.
The white mist was bizarre—so dense that even spiritual perception struggled to penetrate it. Above them, a cold, oppressive chill filled the air, making even Lin Dong feel uncomfortable.
Lin Fan, however, felt much better after using a portion of his Flame Ancestral Symbol's power.
Qingtan, surprisingly, seemed to be completely at ease in this place—as if she were in her element.
Lin Fan raised an eyebrow, then muttered,
"Looks like we've entered the Misty Forest."
"Misty Forest?" Lin Dong quickly pulled out a map and matched their surroundings.
"Yeah, we're on the edge of the Great Wilderness Province."
"If we count the time, it's been about four months since we left Yan City. We've passed through four provincial cities. Seems accurate."
Little Marten leapt onto Lin Dong's shoulder and yawned, "So what if you know it's the Misty Forest? Got any way out?"
Lin Dong froze for a second, speechless.
Lin Fan said calmly,
"It's said that there's only one correct path through the Misty Forest. Unless someone who knows the route leads the way, it's nearly impossible to find the exit."
"We'll try to look for a way out. If not, we'll just have to hope someone familiar with the forest comes in."
"…That's all we can do," Lin Dong said bitterly.
The trio continued to wander the Misty Forest, hoping to find a way out—but their efforts were in vain.
That night, they were forced to set up camp in a random clearing and rest.
Roar!
Just as they were preparing to sleep, distant growls echoed through the forest—accompanied by the sound of dozens of beasts charging.
"Something's happening," Lin Fan's eyes narrowed. He stood and focused his senses.
Lin Dong and Qingtan rushed to his side, cautiously on guard.
Little Marten appeared again and pointed,
"It's coming from that direction. A ton of beasts are gathering there."
"Either a heavenly treasure appeared, or they're preparing to attack humans."
"Let's go take a look," Lin Fan said, eyes flashing.
He suspected it was the Mist Leopard-Croc Kings gathering beasts to attack the Eagle Martial Hall encampment.
Lin Dong and Qingtan had no objections.
Lin Fan stored away the tent, and he and Qingtan mounted Huo'er. Lin Dong rode Xiao Yan, and they headed toward the commotion.
Soon, they reached the source of the beast tide.
In a clearing near the forest's center, a simple camp stood—currently under siege by hundreds of ferocious beasts, led by two Mist Leopard-Croc Kings.
Inside the camp, the situation was dire.
"Should we help them?" Lin Dong asked quietly beside Lin Fan.
Lin Fan rubbed his chin.
"Let's talk to them first. If they can guide us out of this place, helping them wouldn't hurt."
Lin Dong nodded. "Makes sense."
He had no desire to stay in this cursed forest any longer.
The trio easily broke through the beast encirclement and arrived at the camp's entrance.
Seeing three strangers riding spirit beasts appear out of nowhere, the defenders tensed up immediately.
"Who are you people? What do you want?"
The leading middle-aged man shouted while striking down a beast, wary of the newcomers.
Seeing their nervous faces, Lin Fan smiled.
"No need to worry. We wandered into the Misty Forest by accident and can't find the way out."
"When we heard the commotion, we came to check it out—hoping someone here might know the route."
The group visibly relaxed.
"You came from outside?" the middle-aged man asked.
"Yes," Lin Fan nodded. "Do you know the way out?"
The man sighed bitterly.
"I do… but as you can see, we're in no position to guide anyone right now."
Lin Fan scanned the camp and saw it was barely holding on.
He smiled faintly.
"Looks like your defenses won't last long. We'll help you push the beasts back—and in exchange, you guide us out. Deal?"
The man's eyes lit up.
"If you can help us survive this, I'll guide you out myself!"
"Then it's settled."
Lin Fan nodded, then swiftly formed a complex hand seal.
In an instant, a massive blue handprint appeared and expanded rapidly into a sky-covering wall, crashing down upon the beast tide!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Dozens of beasts were sent flying instantly. Many were critically wounded, and a few were killed on the spot.
"Hiss!"
The camp's defenders gasped in shock.
They hadn't expected this young man to be so powerful!
A single strike—and half of the beasts were wiped out!
"Big Brother is amazing!"
A girl of about twelve or thirteen clapped her hands excitedly in the camp's center.
Beside her, a young woman in her early twenties—beautiful and curvaceous—nodded softly.
"Yes… very impressive."
Lin Fan ignored the crowd's reactions.
He formed another hand seal, and another massive blue handprint descended, clearing out the remaining beasts.
Now, only the two Mist Leopard-Croc Kings remained.
Both were at early Form Creation Realm and had intelligence nearly on par with humans.
Seeing how effortlessly Lin Fan destroyed their horde, fear filled their eyes.
They turned and tried to flee into the depths of the Misty Forest.
"Stay right there."
Lin Fan growled, flashing forward to block their escape.
Roar! Roar!
The two beasts snarled and charged him in desperation!
Lin Fan remained calm.
With a flick of his hand, a purple longsword appeared—and with a flash, he slashed at the two beasts.
BOOM!
As the sword fell, thunder exploded across the night sky, striking down upon the two Mist Leopard-Croc Kings!
It was the Earth-grade spirit treasure, Thunder Sword—with one swing, thunder surged!
Pfft!
The sword cleaved through them like tofu.
Thud! Thud!
Their bodies were instantly cut in half and crashed to the ground in four pieces.
Everyone in the camp stood frozen in shock.
In that moment, the slim figure holding a purple sword looked like a deity descended from the heavens—capable of slaying all who stood in his way.
