Sunlight filtered into the room through the wooden windows, brushing gently across Caelen's eyes as they fluttered open. The warmth touched his skin, the scent of the morning air drifting in lightly. He sat up slowly, ruffling his hair, still tangled from sleep.
He rose from the bed and walked toward the window, his sharp eyes narrowing. The village outside was clearly visible—no mist, no fog.
"So the fog only comes out at night, huh?" he muttered, arms crossed as he stared over Veymoor Hollow from above.
Just then, the door creaked open, and Ryan stepped inside.
"Good morning, my lord," he said.
"Morning," Caelen replied with a light nod.
"Lady Veralia, Reina, and Nyra are already downstairs helping Lily out. We'll wait for you," Ryan added.
"I'll be down soon," Caelen said as Ryan shut the door behind him.
Caelen stretched his arms and headed into the restroom.
