Chapter Text

Walking down the hallways of the Red Keep with Ser Harrold Westerling by her side, she could hear the groaning of the god inside her. "What's the matter with you?" she asked, a bit annoyed. Ever since they had left their chambers and seen the knight waiting to follow them around, Odin had been greatly displeased.

"He should not be here. He should be protecting the mortal peasants, not us. We can take care of ourselves," he stubbornly told her.

Ah, so that was his deal. His pride had taken a hit at the thought of being protected by someone, especially a mortal. "And pray tell, if something were to happen, how would you suggest we take care of ourselves?" she asked with a slight grin.

"Easy. I take over. Your body may be smaller and weaker, but my experience would match our opponents. Also, after today, if all goes well, you will never need some knight at your back," Odin replied.

The last sentence made her quite curious. She tried to pry the information about his plans out of him but eventually failed. He hid secrets from her, and she hated it.

Being kept in the dark by her father, the council, and everyone else was already annoying, but from the person who was supposed to be counting on her? That hurt a lot more than expected. It was strange how their bond grew. It definitely wasn't like a mating bond; she had already asked a maester about it.

A mating bond makes an alpha and omega connect on a deeper level, to feel each other's presence, to hear their thoughts, and to feel their emotions. People had always said it was a wonderful thing, but the bond Rhaenyra shared with Odin wasn't like that at all. It was like two magnets facing each other, pushing and pulling and somehow evolving into one giant magnet when contact was made. Odin felt Rhaenyra's emotions bleed into his, almost making them his, and he pulled back each time, not yet understanding what was happening completely. He kept his emotions in check in fear they'd affect the young princess. She was already grieving her mother; there was no need to add his grief into hers. His pain was his, and he'd see it dealt with.

It was pure luck that the one person she was heading to see came into view. She wanted to run to Alicent and hug her tight but had promised Odin to behave. She rushed her steps, catching up to the auburn-haired girl. Alicent was surprised when she saw her, then smiled widely, very glad her princess had healed.

"Alicent! How are you? I tried to get them to let you see me, but they didn't. They kept talking to me about appropriate things and all," Rhaenyra ranted.

Alicent laughed. It was true that her father had forbidden her from attending to Rhaenyra anymore, telling her how she was an omega and to protect her virtue from the savage, unpredictable princess. She ignored his crude words; Rhaenyra wasn't some barbaric creature led by lust and desire. She was her friend and lover.

"I'm so glad you're well, Princess. I've been so worried about you." Alicent grabbed Rhaenyra's hands, caressing them, wanting to feel her.

The princess looked around, seeing that Harald was a bit far and couldn't see them. She hugged Alicent, pulling her closer by her waist and inhaling her soft, delicate, delicious scent, Alicent doing the same to her neck. A big part of her imagined what it would be like to claim her there, to mark her for every omega and beta woman to see. She had been so worried these past few days, first for Rhaenyra's health, then with jealousy over how the girls at court were already deciding how to approach the newly presented alpha.

Alicent was worried that now her princess had presented, she would shift her focus to other, more alluring girls. But all her worries vanished when she inhaled her scent.

Odin kept quiet; this was a private moment, but he had things to do. Thankfully, the knight who was annoying him coughed a little, trying to get them to break apart, which they did.

"Where are you headed?" Rhaenyra asked softly, wondering if they could spend more time together.

"I'm going to study with the Septa. Some of us must study. I suppose you're relieved now that you won't have to be in her presence," Alicent replied.

Rhaenyra laughed at that remark. "You have no idea how glad I am that I won't have to attend her lessons anymore. But I suppose she'd be more glad not to deal with me anymore."

Rhaenyra walked Alicent to her lessons, then left. "Harald, tell the guards to prepare a carriage. I'm going to the cliffs now." He bowed, then called a maid to inform her. She had already talked and checked on her girl. The next important thing was to find Syrax, then her tasks would be done for the day, and it'd be Odin's turn.

When she stepped into the site, a wave of sadness crushed her once more, remembering her mother's funeral. But she held herself from crying. Her mother may be gone, but her memory lives within her. It is her duty to keep that memory alive and her legacy with it.

She stepped closer to the edge and started calling out Syrax's name. It wasn't loud enough; it was helpless. Her dragon wasn't there. Maybe she went to Dragonstone.

"Let me try," Odin said, seeing there was nothing to lose. They switched. Standing up straight, Rhaenyra now made a strange symbol on her arm. Putting her two hands together, she called with a voice booming, mostly crossing the narrow sea with Syrax's name on her lips. The guards had no choice but to cover their ears from the deafening sound. They were scared a bit; it didn't sound like the princess at all.

Rhaenyra switched back to her body, trembling from her own voice. She waited for five minutes until she heard a shriek in the sky. Syrax came back! She was here! The golden dragon had finally settled down on the cliff, letting her rider hug her tight, purring into her new scent.

"Where have you been, girl? I was so worried about you," she asked Syrax, caressing her snout and hard skin.

'She was in a place called Dragonstone. Your presentation caused her to shriek in confusion, and she sensed my presence, making her all the more confused and wanting to go away,' Odin told her.

'Wait! You can understand what she's saying?!' she asked, astonished. This was amazing! Now she could finally understand what Syrax was saying completely.

'Yes, I understand animals or creatures in this case,' Odin replied.

Syrax let out a bit of a roar, annoyed, and groaned at her. 'Now she wants to eat some sheep. She's hungry.'

"Is that so? You want some sheep? I will have the keepers give you sheep to your heart's content," Rhaenyra said. Syrax was delighted. Carefully, Rhaenyra climbed on the saddle. Her dragon, still annoyed with Odin's presence, groaned even more.

"Lykiri, Syrax, lykiri. He is a friend, just like Alicent, and you like her, don't you? It shouldn't be hard to get to know one more person. I'm sure you two will get along." The dragon hummed a bit as if agreeing to try.

The guards tried to stop her and get her to come back to the Red Keep but stopped in their tracks, fearing the dragon would eat them. They flew away for a bit, away from King's Landing. The princess felt relieved to have finally found Syrax, and the flight was nice. After a while, just as they were in the middle of the sea, Odin demanded to take over, not even fearing Syrax's reaction to him. So they switched.

Rhaenyra made the same symbol to call Syrax. Her eyes glistening with gold, she called two names, "Huginn! Muninn!" She kept calling over and over again. The more they flew, the more the calling became. 'Who are those you're trying to find?' the princess asked inside her mind. 'You'll see,' Odin answered cryptically but okay.

Syrax was so annoyed with her, which earned her a scolding from her rider on how not to be selfish and to hunt more if she wanted to eat instead of relying on humans to do it for her.

For two candle marks, Rhaenyra kept calling until she heard a wide croak, and a dark small figure flew right at her, not even scared of the dragon their master was riding on. If it was their master, they had to confirm.

"Lykiri, Syrax, lykiri," Rhaenyra kept repeating to the brat she was flying on to calm her down, which worked. She would have hated for her raven to be eaten by a dragon. On a small island, the raven followed the two, and when they set on the ground, Rhaenyra jumped from the saddle and ran toward her raven.

"Huginn, it's me! Havi! I know it's strange how I look, but hey, I didn't exactly get to choose, alright?" The raven croaked once more, believing her. He spoke to his master, informing them how they saw their soul transported and how they were fortunate to be granted a second life.

"I know, and I'm grateful. So that is why we will help the owner of this body, Crown Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, with whatever she needs. And to do that, I need you, your brother, and mostly my staff. So, where is your brother and Gungnir?"

Huginn answered his master. Muninn was scouting the Seven Kingdoms, trying to find him, but due to his telepathic link with his brother, he'd soon return. Huginn had decided to stay in the last place he saw Odin fall because he believed Odin might return there, and so he kept guard over the staff that had fallen into the sea. It turns out he was right to stay. If a raven could grin, he would, proud of himself.

The princess was beside herself in the mind place. Is she going insane? Was Odin really talking to a raven?! But then again, it was crazier when he understood what Syrax was saying. Odin, somehow in the middle of the conversation, opened a link between their minds, making her understand every bit of what Huginn was saying and even Syrax, who kept on yelling at them to hurry up in the background. This was by far her favorite ability.

Before they could fly, Huginn handed Rhaenyra a silver ring with blue inscribed runes to wear. He had been hiding the ring in his fur under his wings. After Rhaenyra put on the ring, it strangely fit perfectly on her hand. It had been shaped for the Raven God, who had much bigger hands, but this ring was perfect on Rhaenyra.

'What does it do?' the princess asked.

'It was my wedding ring, but I feel my half-powers residing inside. It most likely stored them when I was in the sky falling. The other half of my powers is buried in my staff. We need to go get it from the middle of the sea now,' Odin answered.

Rhaenyra got on Syrax and gave her an order to fly towards King's Landing in the direction Huginn would be leading her. 'Hold up. Did you just say in the middle of the sea?! I don't know how to swim! What if we drown?!' the princess protested loudly.

'Relax, nothing will happen. I'm a good swimmer,' Odin tried to comfort her, which was answered by blunt refusal.

Ignoring the princess' protests, they flew where Huginn was leading them. A candle mark later, they could see the city from a great distance. Huginn slowed down, and Syrax followed him. The raven came to a stop, gesturing at the spot Gungnir had fallen into. Syrax grew anxious, seeing how Rhaenyra was unsaddling and preparing to jump into the deep waters. Rhaenyra was thankful no one was there to see her. She took a deep breath, then dived from the dragon's back into the dark blue waters.

She was thankful she had a rune of protection engraved on her ring. It would help give her more time to search for the staff. Syrax continued to fly around one place, waiting for her rider to emerge from the water. Huginn tried and failed to comfort the dragon, who threatened to eat him if her rider didn't rise soon, almost blaming him. Rhaenyra swam deeper and deeper, her muscles already tired from the cold water and still exhausted from her rut. She conjured another rune of light, taking more of her power, illuminating her path. She could see more of her surroundings. The deeper she went, the more she could feel it. Gungnir was calling to her to find it. Suddenly, a blue shark came out of nowhere, almost tackling her. Thankfully, it ignored her and continued swimming in the opposite direction. It was very distracting, the bond with Syrax and her ever-growing restlessness and worry. The princess, who kept screaming at her in the beginning, now almost begged to go to the surface. Rhaenyra ignored all of that and kept going to reach her target.

She finally found it—her Gungnir resting on one of the rocks. The moment she touched it, she felt all her powers back. Even the princess felt them. It was glorious how everything had returned to her. Her eyes shone bright golden, lighting up the sea. Syrax's anxiety finally settled, the dragon feeling the powers surging from within the sea.

The princess felt calm, warm, and mostly everything so clear. That power she felt within her was beyond imagination. It was pure, unadulterated, and something she was meant to have, like she was always meant to be a god. Two souls bonded into one. Her other half, Odin, completed her. He was the other part she had always been missing but never knew about. The Raven God felt the same, glad to have been sent here by fate or whatever cosmic power. His godhood flourished in the veins of the Valyrian heiress. Whatever impurity impacted by inbreeding within her line had vanished when the staff of one came into her hand.

Surging from the deep water with unimaginable speed, flying and floating, she went. Syrax looked in wonder as her rider flew in front of her, looking at her with golden eyes matching her own. "Falka!" the princess screamed, then turned into a golden raven, surprising both her dragon and the other two ravens now that Muninn had returned to his master and brother. She spoke to her dragon, urging her to follow, and so they flew back to the Keep, the future seat of the kingdom she'd build. They flew and played together as if siblings bonding. Even the spoiled dragon enjoyed it, enjoying getting new friends and her rider, who could truly fly with her now.

Notes:

Sorry I posted this a bit late, I was shopping and I have a craving for turkey and bought some.

Anyways hope you enjoyed this, I'm afraid this is the limit of my description techniques, I'm even weaker writing dialogues without them sounding like absolute cringe, how in the world was I and English major? I have a master in it too? I keep wondering about that.

So Odin is slowly opening up to rhaneyra, at least his powers did, she's gonna have a bit of trouble trying to control them especially when Otto comes and annoys her, Syrax is found! Yay! Huginn is here and so is Muninn, our girl is getting two new brothers of another species.

Next up I don't know if I should do a time jump and continue writing at a slower pace, I will see what I can do. I will make no promises on when to do because I know myself well enough to know that I lack in that department.

See you guys next time, please do tell me your ideas and theories, I'd love to hear them, I may get a bit inspired by them.
