Aveline
I was sitting on my bed—still can't believe she whispered into my ear like that. Wow. Straight out of a dark romance novel. Her looks? Her voice? That whole mafia vibe? Yeah… she's kinda hot. I admit it. Cold-hearted, dangerous, and definitely the main character energy of some tragic mafia love story.
I wanted to slap myself. Why am I even thinking about that idiot? Sure, she's good at dancing. Sure, she's strong. Yeah, it was cool—but still...
I got up and went downstairs for water.
Sometimes I wonder—why the hell is that witch single? Like, no ex, no boyfriend, no relationships, nothing.
She's literally the only person I know who's:
Without an ex
Without a current relationship
Anti-romantic to her core
And there she is—sitting on the couch with her laptop like she runs the world. I'm just her little rabbit, of course. So I plopped down beside her and teased,
"What the hell are you doing? Talking to your secret boyfriend?"
She smacked my head.
"I know I'm an idiot," I said with a grin, "but I'm your little rabbit, right?"
Let me take advantage of this innocent cuteness God gave me. I leaned closer and did the thing she can't resist:
"Sis-sis~ what are you doing?" I asked in the most childish voice ever. Hehehe I'm smart like that.
"Don't butter me up, you little fox," she said with a sigh.
"Heyyy, let's have a midnight party—but you make dessert!"
I pulled out my best puppy eyes.
Being the youngest Vale daughter has its perks. I know she loves me~
"No-no. Aveline, please not the puppy eyes!" she groaned—but yeah, she gave in. She always gives in.
"Okay, what do you want, little rabbit?"
I was already bouncing in excitement. I hopped up on the counter, watching her move around the kitchen.
She's... kind of the perfect life partner.
I mean, I hate her sometimes. But I also love her. She's strong, she's steady. She's genuinely the kind of person who makes you feel safe.
I don't know why, but my body moved before my mind. I stepped up behind her and wrapped my arms around her waist.
She's taller than me—ugh, why is life so unfair?
"I'm sorry if I ever hurt you," I whispered. "If I ever made you feel like I shouldn't exist... I don't know why I'm saying this. But still."
She froze, then turned around and hugged me tightly.
"Don't ever say that again, Evy," she said softly. "You're my little baby rabbit. Be a little rabbit—not a grown-up woman, okay?"
And that was the moment I realized something. Even if the world turns against me—even if our family says no—she'll be the one standing beside me, saying:
"Do it. I'm here."
I've got a competition coming up…
"Will you come?" I asked, not expecting anything. She's always busy.
But she didn't even hesitate.
"Why not? My little rabbit is going to perform. How could I not support her?"
"But—wait, what?" I blinked. My brain couldn't keep up.
Was she saying she'd bring…
Ruby Sun?
"No. I dare you. Nope. No way," I said, panicking.
She just smirked.
"Too late. I'm bringing her anyway."
