Chapter 166 - Chapter 166: I have a plan!

After finishing lunch the next day, Peter and Harry were looking for a place to rest when Harry said something that made Peter shudder.

"Peter, I have an idea."

In this era before Red Dead Redemption 2 had been released, only Peter could understand the terrifying power of Harry's words. Seeing Peter flinch, Harry was quite confused. "What's wrong, man? You don't look so good?"

"I'm fine, except I think you're about to propose a really bad idea."

"How could you say that?" Harry was not pleased. "I think it's a brilliant idea. What if we suggest that Jessica lead the detective club on another investigation of the Kravinoff Mansion?"

"That's probably the worst idea I've ever heard."

Peter was silent for two minutes, looking at Harry. "Are you serious? If it was like before, when Kraven—Kravinoff—wasn't in New York, it might have been a little safer. But he's here now, and he might even be living there! What if he finds us?"

Harry looked confused. "Don't be ridiculous. We're just a bunch of students on an adventure. What could possibly go wrong?"

"That's how things always go wrong in horror movies."

"Horror movies don't have superheroes in them."

Harry looked at Peter nervously. With Spider-Man around, what was there to worry about? No matter how strong Kraven was, could he be stronger than Spider-Man? Besides, as Harry had said, people went to the Kravinoff Mansion every year to explore and nothing bad ever happened.

Peter wanted to argue, but unfortunately, sometimes, some unavoidable things just happen. A voice Peter hadn't expected chimed in, curiously joining their conversation. "What are you boys talking about?"

Unfortunately, the person who said this wasn't there to help. It was Felicia. She curiously inserted herself into their conversation, and Harry immediately pitched his plan. "I was just thinking that we've never been to the Kravinoff Mansion, so I was wondering if the club could go again?"

"I'm afraid most of the detective club has already been there. Nobody from your generation of four newcomers has been. It would be unrealistic to organize another club event just for that."

Peter was about to agree and persuade Harry to drop the idea, but Felicia added, "However, if you're serious about going, I can take you guys to check out the area. Just let me know when!"

"Great! Thanks, Felicia! I'm going to go ask Amadeus. Oh, and don't listen to Peter. He thinks it's a horror movie set."

After hearing this, Felicia looked at Peter with curiosity. "Spider-Man is worried about a horror movie set?"

"...Yeah, what if it's like Final Destination? Spider-Man can't fight fate." Peter spouted some nonsense, then asked, "What do you really want?"

"I want to find out what you're trying to hide. If you're trying to stop your friends from doing something, it means they'll be in danger—and doesn't that mean there are a lot of interesting things there?"

The two of them walked and talked, while also being careful to not be too close to other students. Peter just laughed after hearing her words and then helplessly warned, "Be careful, curiosity killed the cat, Felicia."

"If you're really worried about curiosity killing the cat, you could always try to satisfy the cat's curiosity." Felicia smiled. "Trust me, anyone who owns a cat knows that the way to get them to stop causing trouble is to tire them out first."

Peter watched Felicia leave, not sure if her last comment was unintentional or if she was deliberately being suggestive.

"What do you think?"

Peter seemed to be talking to himself, but he was actually asking Venom. He knew it was a pointless question, though, because Venom didn't really understand complex human social interactions, even though he observed them every day.

[No problem. Because no one can beat us.]

"The Hulk or Thor might be a little upset about that."

[We've already beaten a Hulk.]

A Hulk from a parallel universe isn't as strong as the one in the main universe. Peter sighed, but then Venom actually gave him a very valuable suggestion.

[If there's really danger, just clear it out beforehand.]

That's right. Since Harry's plan was disguised as a student adventure, it would definitely happen on a weekend during the day. So, he could just go to the Kravinoff Mansion and scout the area beforehand to see if there were any dangers. If Kraven was really there to avenge his brother or had some other secret, Peter's spider-sense would definitely be able to pick up on the danger, and he could take care of it in advance.

The worst-case scenario was Kraven finding him, and the two of them getting into a fight. Peter could just run away, although he didn't think Kraven could beat him.

Of course, it would be even better if he could convince Harry not to go, but he suspected Harry was serious about solving the problem.

"Hey, Peter."

Gwen appeared from behind and patted Peter on the back, looking at the distant Felicia. "Who was that?"

"Felicia Hardy. A student from the detective club. A... professional thief. A kind of benevolent thief who only steals from bad people."

Gwen said "Oh," and then reacted. "Why is it that every so often, a pretty girl appears around you after you became Spider-Man?"

"Maybe you should be asking why there are so many superheroes and anti-heroes at our school. I guess she counts as an anti-hero."

Listening to Peter's tone, Gwen realized this wasn't the time to tease him. She looked at Peter with curiosity. "What's wrong? Something on your mind?"

"I told Harry and Amadeus about my identity because Harry's dad is Norman Osborn..."

"Really?"

Peter was interrupted by Gwen and could only shrug. "Yes, but that's not important. Mr. Osborn offered to support Spider-Man with Oscorp technology, and then we found a mansion that might be the home of some dangerous person, and Harry wants to go check it out..."

"And you're worried about his safety?"

Peter nodded. "I can't talk him out of it."

"Hmm~ It's actually very simple." Gwen smiled. "Liz told us that her dad wants her boyfriend to come over for dinner. If Harry knows..."

"He won't be thinking about the Kravinoff Mansion anymore."

Peter looked at Gwen and asked, "So, what do you need me to do?"

"Why do you think I need you to do something?"

"It's always been this way since we were kids."

Gwen shrugged. "We have band practice after school today. Do you want to come and listen?"
