Magneto of Earth-21923 was very old, so old he had Alzheimer's. This was quite normal. After all, he was already an old man during the golden age of heroes. Now, 45 years later, he was over a hundred years old.
He once believed Red Skull's words, thinking that after all heroes were annihilated, mutants would thrive under his leadership. But he was wrong. The villains simply didn't know how to govern a nation. Red Skull even bombed all American forces unwilling to submit to him with nuclear weapons, turning the entire United States into a wasteland. For some unknown reason, no new mutants had been born since that year. The mutant territories saw fewer and fewer mutants, further proving Magneto's initial choice was wrong.
Now, he was old, very old. He would see illusions of his son, Pietro, and daughter, Wanda. If he hadn't relied on his children's trust in his parental affection that day to kill Wanda, allowing the Absorbing Man to absorb Wanda's magic, Thor might not have died, and the world might not have fallen. His youngest daughter, Lorna, might not have left him either.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."
This was the only phrase the ruler of the entire American Midwest, a shriveled, emaciated old man, spoke every day. Every morning, he would rise and, looking at his silent children by his bed, he would shriveledly ask them:
"What do you want me to do?"
Wanda and Pietro never answered.
Until today, at Hammer Falls, a heavily monitored area within Magneto's territory, an otherworldly visitor appeared and looked formidable. So, with the help of his illusory children, he attacked this stranger.
Peter was once again bewildered by this universe's utterly illogical and reckless development. And what the hell did you protect?! Besides the hammer, the entire Hammer Falls was about to be pulled into the sky by you, wasn't it? If the Iron Spider suit hadn't already been demagnetized, he would have been pulled into the sky.
"You see, this universe really isn't friendly." Anansi suddenly reappeared beside Peter. Peter looked at him, puzzled: "Weren't you blown away?"
"Please, even Loki can easily cast illusions, let alone me? I'm the one who banished Loki."
"Your universe's Loki."
Anansi couldn't help but laugh: "Child, the concept of gods isn't like that. Gods are creations of magic passing through human thoughts and consciousness through stories, modifying reality. Essentially, all gods of the multiverse originate from the same concept; it's just that their appearances and physical forms vary in the human consciousness of different universes."
"I am the god of stories. I control stories, so I prevented magic from passing through all stories except Anansi, which is why I banished the gods. It's not that I actually banished a group of beings called gods."
Peter looked at him, silent. Anansi seemed to understand Peter's thoughts and nodded helplessly.
"Alright, alright, I'll tell you why I'm doing this. It has nothing to do with what you said. That... Hive Queen, she's confined beneath the Web of Destiny, so you don't have to worry about her for now."
Anansi raised his hands, saying resignedly, "As for what you just asked, what if you refuse? That doesn't matter either. I am the god of stories. Even if modifying an entire universe is a bit difficult, modifying your life is effortless."
"Unlike you, a special totem, we pay a considerable price to travel through the multiverse. So, if you join us, it will be much easier for us."
"Then you'll have to deal with Magneto first."
Anansi smiled indifferently.
"I'll be right back."
"Hello? Hi? Konnichiwa?"
Looking at Deadpool's hand waving in front of him, Peter looked at him and first stated the important matter: "That Spider-God is an enemy."
"And there's no doubt we can't persuade him with words. Have you thought of a way to deal with him?"
Deadpool said, while following Peter's gaze to Thor's Hammer in the center of Hammer Falls, instantly cheering: "Oh! Yes! That's right, pick it up, little spider, then thoroughly spank that Black Spider-Man's butt! We don't want any Black Spider-Man!"
Watching Peter grasp the hammer handle, Deadpool cheered: "Pick it up! Come on! You can do it!"
"I can't."
Peter, after holding Thor's Hammer for a few seconds, shrugged: "Can't lift it."
Deadpool froze, then looked stunned: "You didn't even try!"
"Because I knew I couldn't pull it out, okay?"
Ashley admitted she had hoped her otherworldly grandfather could lift the divine hammer she had been trying to wield since childhood. But it still didn't work. It seemed these two were destined to die here today.
And her useless father had, predictably, run away. Now, it was up to Magneto to see if he could defeat that so-called god.
Meanwhile, Magneto, mumbling, understood the true meaning of his imagined children: the enemy couldn't be defeated this way.
The metal in Hammer Falls was simply not enough, and he couldn't destroy ordinary people's lives.
"That's how it is... that's how it is..."
Countless iron sands spread from the ground, firmly binding Anansi, then dragging him away from the town. Magneto instinctively controlled every iron atom in the surrounding earth, forming a solid cage to trap the enemy.
He tried to control the iron atoms within the enemy's body, but found nothing, because the opponent simply had no iron atoms. He then tried to control the biological magnetic fields within the opponent's body, but also found nothing.
Magneto looked at his enemy with confusion. He began to suspect that all of this was his own delusion, that there was no such enemy, and that he was just having another episode.
Anansi, meanwhile, laughed. He broke through the shackles Magneto had set with brute force. These shackles were indeed terrifying, but he was a god, probably the only god in this universe.
How could a god be defeated by mortals?
"You are strong, mortal, but to challenge a god, you are not qualified."
The enemy before him was real!
In Magneto's cloudy eyes, an unidentifiable light flickered. He made an incomprehensible whimpering sound, then a gigantic shadow loomed over, blocking out the sky.
It was the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier that had crashed to the ground, which he had unconsciously moved into the sky.
Magneto stared blankly at the Helicarrier in the sky, then seemed to understand something, controlling the Helicarrier to crash heavily onto Anansi.
"Die! Villain!"
