Chapter 142 - Chapter 142: What Do You Mean My Transmigrated Teammate Is Deadpool?

At this point, things were quite simple. After school, Harry went to Norman to explain the project. As Harry expected, Norman Osborn readily agreed, promising to establish a dedicated "Emily Osborn Research Center." In reality, this would serve as Spider-Man's exclusive secret base, outside Avenger jurisdiction and solely for Spider-Man's benefit.

The only thing that struck Harry as odd was Norman Osborn's attitude when he learned about all this. It was as if he thought, "My son is finally achieving something, actually able to help Peter Parker." It made him curious when exactly Norman had started to fixate on Peter and see him as the ideal son-in-law.

But that wasn't the main point. The main point was that this secret base was indeed being established. The Emily Osborn Research Center, sponsored by Oscorp, was temporarily located in the top-floor attic of an apartment building in Midtown. Peter noticed that the location seemed to be Doctor Octopus's lab from the Marvel's Spider-Man game, a strangely coincidental happenstance.

Meanwhile, Amadeus, though hesitant, agreed to join this support team. Thus, for the time being, before the lab was fully set up, the initial roster for the Spider-Man Support Team was confirmed.

All that was left was to return to daily life.

"We are pleased to announce that, thanks to the efforts of lawyer Matt Murdock, the jury has finally found Mr. Luke Cage innocent." It was unclear if it was because Luke Cage was an unmasked superhero, but J. Jonah Jameson's tone was notably cheerier. "And the Defenders, formed by these heroic individuals who bravely exposed a government's illicit human experimentation conspiracy, have already begun their operations in New York. They are cooperating with the police and combating increasingly rampant gang crime. These are the true protectors of New York."

"Not that swinging, black-clad Spider-Man who comes from who-knows-where!"

"Wow!"

The joyful exclamation didn't come from Peter, but from Gwen, whom Peter was swinging above Manhattan. To avoid exposing Peter's identity, she wore a homemade masked outfit, which, sure enough, resembled Spider-Gwen's attire, just without any actual spider powers.

Precisely because of this, Peter nervously landed with Gwen on the rooftop of a tall building. Gwen seemed quite unfulfilled. She ripped off her hood and eagerly asked, "Can you swing through the city like this every day?"

"Not every day. Maybe a few days off. Perhaps."

Though he'd never actually taken a day off.

"Can we do it again? That felt amazing!"

Gwen looked at Peter with great anticipation, but the information displayed on his eye lenses indicated there was no time: "Uh, no, a new situation has arisen. I need to go help. Do you need me to take you down?"

"Oh, no, I'll just take this jacket off and put it in my bag." Gwen smiled and waved at Peter: "Remember to be careful."

Peter waved back, then leaped off. Gwen, watching the rooftop entrance behind her, let out a long breath. She wondered when she'd get to experience something like that again.

Meanwhile, Peter Parker, clad in black, swung through the city. He wondered which clueless supervillain had decided to cause trouble now. He landed on the ground and saw Chief George Stacy's patrol car and his subordinate officers' vehicles glued to the ground with super glue.

Huh? Wait, super glue?

Dodging a stream of viscous liquid super glue that barely grazed him, Peter muttered, "No, please don't let it be him," as he turned to see the guy with two specialized water guns, a large bag of money on his back, roaring at him: "I am Paste-Pot Pete! Die, Spider-Man!"

"..."

Peter Parker had never been so speechless about his own name. He couldn't even complain to this guy.

Why do you have "Peter" in your villain name?

"Can't you change your name? Like Trap King, or Master Trapper? Paste-Pot Pete? The only advantage of that name is it'll make people laugh themselves to death." Peter sighed helplessly, firing two webs. But the Paste-Pot Pete across from him burst out laughing: "Haha, you're doomed, Spider-Man, because my super glue—"

"I clogged your gun barrels. No need to thank me."

Paste-Pot Pete blinked twice. The next second, his water guns exploded, and an overwhelming torrent of white super glue enveloped him entirely. Peter helplessly waved, walking towards Chief Stacy and his officers.

"Uh, thank you, Spider-Man. Our police department's current weapons are completely useless against this kind of super glue..." Chief Stacy sighed, then suddenly remembered something and said to Spider-Man: "Oh, right, earlier there was a guy in a red spandex suit who said he wanted to help, but he got glued inside the toy store over there. Do you want to go check on him? He said he was here to help you."

Help me? Red spandex? Could it be Daredevil? Uh, Matt shouldn't be that bad. Please don't be Ant-Man.

Peter thought as he walked into the toy store, where he saw a thumb sticking up from a blob of super glue, as if it were cosplaying the Terminator. Peter thought for a moment, and a terrifying thought suddenly flashed through his mind. He then controlled Venom to pull the person out of the super glue.

This was the second time today Peter had muttered, "No, please don't let it be him."

And it was the second time he received no response.

"Hey there, little spider." Since his mask was stuck with super glue, Wade Wilson's scarred face was pulled out, revealing his wide, joyful grin: "Did you miss me?"

"How are you here? Aren't you supposed to be in the Raft prison?!"

"No doubt, they thought it was pretty inhumane to put a mutant gene controller on a cancer patient." Deadpool said, putting his hand on Peter's arm: "I heard you're going to cameo in Mad Max? Interested in taking the Canadian who hates Australia the most on a rampage?"

"So, the Avengers released you because they want you and me to go to the wasteland world together?"

"Yes, because Old Wade is immortal, and his nature isn't bad. He can be dealt with with just money."

"But it's not time yet."

Wade's smile was quite frightening: "Since I'm here, the plot time must have arrived. Three, two, one, bang!"

Peter's spider-sense, unprecedentedly, screamed. It was as if the wasteland world had undergone some drastic change, accelerating the arrival of that time.

-------------

Mad Max is considered the foundational work of all wasteland culture. The original trilogy of this film series was Australian. It is well-known that Wolverine's actor, Hugh Jackman, is Australian, and Deadpool, both the character and the actor, are Canadian.
