"Go on, Kimi. Talk to him," Olive urged, giving her friend a gentle nudge toward the bar where Bennett was standing. "He’s been looking over here all night."
Rylie chimed in with a grin. "We’ll give you two some space. Go!" With a final, encouraging push, her two friends melted back into the dancing crowd, leaving Kimi to take a hesitant seat on a barstool near Bennett.
Kolton pushed through the crowd of girls who tried to catch his attention at the bar. Their perfume and laughter meant nothing to him as his eyes locked onto Kimi sitting alone on a barstool.
Without warning, he seized her wrist and pulled her to her feet.
"What are you doing?" she started to protest.
He cut her off, dragging her away from the noise and lights of the party. His grip was firm, unyielding.
"Kolton, stop this. What has gotten into you?" Kimi struggled against his hold, but he only tightened his fingers around her wrist.
