The third progenitor's underlings would be far stronger than any vampires they had encountered thus far.
Even her second-tier armed vampires would possess significantly greater strength than typical ones.
Although Aoki's suggestion to prioritize the evacuation of non-combatants might seem frustrating, it is undeniably the most prudent course of action, for remaining would only result in their utter annihilation.
"Relay the order: all non-combatants are to proceed to the designated evacuation point, escorted by the Narumi squad. Ensure no untoward incidents occur," Guren Ichinose instructed his troops, issuing the command.
Following this, he turned his gaze toward Aoki. "And then, what do we do?"
After a moment of contemplation, Aoki responded, "Prepare thoroughly. While I know the third progenitor is arriving, I am uncertain of her approach or her precise level of strength. I will engage her directly; you will handle the remaining nobles.
If I am unable to suppress the third progenitor, initiate an immediate retreat, for if I cannot contend with her, your encounter will result in nothing short of a brutal massacre."
"However, should I manage to suppress the third progenitor, launch a full-scale counteroffensive.
Once the third progenitor is defeated in combat, the ensuing conflict will become one-sided. Even if we are left with minimal fighting strength, our superior morale alone will be enough to overwhelm the vampires."
Having experienced the war for humanity's survival in the Demon Slayer world, Aoki's strategic planning surpasses even Guren Ichinose's in its meticulous detail. He possesses a keen understanding of when to engage, how to engage, and when to refrain from engaging, holding complete mastery over the situation.
Of course, unforeseen circumstances, such as Yūichirō Hyakuya's outburst during the Shinjuku battle, cannot be entirely discounted.
Guren Ichinose scratched his head, a look of resignation washing over his features.
"Very well, we'll proceed according to your plan. In the Moon Demon Company currently, your position is undeniably higher than my own."
At this juncture, Aoki recalled something and addressed Yūichirō Hyakuya and the others.
"Guren-san, we should also arrange for the evacuation of Yūichirō Hyakuya and his group. A conflict of this magnitude is beyond their capacity to effectively participate in."
Upon hearing this, Yūichirō Hyakuya immediately voiced his displeasure. "What do you mean? What do you mean by 'this level of war is beyond our capacity to participate'? Are you seriously underestimating us?"
Aoki: "What if I am?"
Yūichirō Hyakuya: "Then you're blind!"
In the next instant, Aoki delivered a swift and precise hand strike to Yūichirō Hyakuya's neck, rendering him unconscious before he could react.
"And the rest of you? Do any of you have objections to my proposal?" Aoki's gaze then fell upon Shinoa Hīragi and the remaining four members of the squad, the implication clear: should any of them voice dissent, they would meet the same fate as Yūichirō Hyakuya.
"We have no objections," they responded in unison, though a palpable reluctance hung in the air.
Following this, events unfolded precisely as Aoki had envisioned. First, the deployment of the remaining combat-capable soldiers was carried out, followed by a thorough observation of the Nagoya perimeter to detect any signs of incoming vampire forces.
Time continued to elapse, the sky gradually darkening, the sun sinking towards the western horizon.
Simultaneously, on a separate front, under a softly falling snow, Mikaela Hyakuya stood vigilantly, his gaze fixed on the heavens as an aircraft passed overhead.
"Not Laxus's group. It's those from Kyoto. I must eliminate this threat before their arrival," he muttered, his eyes falling upon a line of dark figures approaching from the distance—Shinoa Hīragi and the others, making their way towards the designated evacuation point.
From within the group, a soldier noticed Mikaela's presence. "General, enemy sighted ahead."
Anticipating the possibility of unforeseen complications, Aoki had instructed Guren Ichinose to bring Shinya Hīragi along to oversee the evacuation.
Given his superior standing amongst the group, Shinya Hīragi's gaze sharpened upon hearing the report. "How many?"
"One," the soldier replied.
"Even if it's a noble, they're killable. Full-speed ahead!" Shinya Hīragi issued the order.
In the rear, Shigure Yukimi carried the unconscious Yūichirō Hyakuya, unable to clearly observe the situation unfolding before them.
"Damn it, more vampires? It seems they're everywhere."
"One shouldn't be a problem. Until we eliminate him, we protect Yūichirō Hyakuya here. We cannot afford to disappoint Aoki," Shinoa Hīragi stated resolutely.
At that moment, Mikaela Hyakuya, standing not far from the group, finally noticed Yūichirō Hyakuya, unconscious and being carried by Shigure Yukimi. His expression immediately hardened.
"Return Yūichirō Hyakuya to me, humans," he declared, drawing his sword.
"Sword, imbibe my blood," he whispered. Thorny vines erupted from the sword's hilt, encircling his hand, transforming the blade's color from its original white to a vibrant, blood-red hue.
"Only one enemy! Eliminate him!" Shinya Hīragi bellowed from the opposite side, weapon drawn.
Mikaela Hyakuya, alone, charged towards the approaching soldiers, initiating a fierce and desperate struggle.
Within moments, Mikaela Hyakuya's exceptional prowess became evident. Weaving effortlessly through the throng of soldiers, he continued his relentless advance toward Yūichirō Hyakuya, despite sustaining several wounds.
"Yūichirō… Yūichirō… Yūichirō…" he repeated in a low, almost frantic whisper, his every action driven by an unyielding determination to reach Yūichirō Hyakuya, the sole source of comfort and the unwavering foundation of his continued existence.
It was at this point that Shinoa Hīragi realized that Mikaela Hyakuya was indeed the family member Yūichirō Hyakuya had mentioned in Shinjuku, and she finally understood the depth of Mikaela Hyakuya's desperation, fueled by the imperative to protect Yūichirō Hyakuya.
"Attack!" Mitsuba Sangū shouted, giving the order to engage, but Shinoa Hīragi swiftly intervened, halting the advance.
"Wait! That vampire… that's Yūichirō Hyakuya's family."
The revelation stunned the assembled soldiers.
They realized Mikaela Hyakuya was the same vampire who had nearly slain Guren Ichinose in Shinjuku, and, more importantly, that he was Yūichirō Hyakuya's own brother.
Meanwhile, Mikaela Hyakuya, relentlessly pushing through the lines of soldiers, was beginning to succumb to exhaustion, his consciousness blurring despite his formidable strength as a vampire noble, the sheer number of opponents proving too much to overcome simultaneously.
"Yūichirō… Yūichirō… return Yūichirō to me!"
Despite this, he managed to break through their defenses, incapacitating Shinoa Hīragi and several others, finally reaching the unconscious Yūichirō Hyakuya and gathering him into his embrace.
Then, for the first time since his transformation into a vampire, a genuine smile graced his lips.
"Let's go, Yūichirō."
