"Infinity Castle, Re-encounter with Akaza"
"I… I didn't see that! What technique was that? It was too fast!" Kaigaku's head lay severed, his mind reeling from the unbelievable speed of Zenitsu Agatsuma's attack. He hadn't even seen Zenitsu draw his blade before his head was cut off. "Did he use a technique I don't know?!"
His immediate thought was that their master, Jigoro Kuwajima, had secretly taught Zenitsu a technique.
"Damn it! As I suspected, that old geezer must have secretly taught you something!" Kaigaku cursed, his eyes filled with resentment. He believed his talent surpassed Zenitsu's, yet he never received Jigoro Kuwajima's approval; the master seemed to favor Zenitsu.
However, Zenitsu refuted him. "You're wrong. Grandpa wasn't like that. I developed this technique myself. It's unique to me. Actually, I really wanted to use this technique to fight alongside you."
Having lost his balance, Zenitsu began to fall, facing certain death if he didn't do something.
Kaigaku didn't believe him. In his eyes, Zenitsu was a complete weakling, incapable of independently developing the seventh form of Thunder Breathing.
"Seventh form? He said seventh form? This waste created a seventh technique from Thunder Breathing, which only has six forms? Him? A weakling who only uses the First Form and is far weaker than me? That's impossible! I can't accept this! How could I lose to such trash? I… I'm going insane!"
"No, wait. I didn't lose. That weakling will fall to his death. He must be completely exhausted. I'm finished, but he won't survive either!"
Suddenly, a figure appeared behind him, wearing a Demon Slayer Corps uniform but with the eyes of a demon. Cold, indifferent eyes, tinged with pity, fixed on him.
"Those who only receive will eventually have nothing left, just like those who only take, destined to possess nothing. They create nothing themselves."
"To die alone… how tragic."
The figure used the surrounding structures to launch himself, catching Zenitsu before he hit the ground.
After bringing Zenitsu to safety, Zenitsu saw his master, Jigoro Kuwajima, in his mind's eye.
He cried out.
"Grandpa! I'm sorry! I couldn't get along with Kaigaku. I did write to him, but he never replied. If it weren't for me, Kaigaku might not be like this. I'm sorry! Please forgive me!"
"I'm sorry, I couldn't repay your kindness. I really wanted to become a Hashira while you were still alive. You won't hate me, right, Grandpa? Grandpa, say something!"
After a long silence, Jigoro Kuwajima, standing before Zenitsu, finally spoke.
"Zenitsu, you are my pride."
Overwhelmed, Zenitsu burst into tears, running towards his master's image.
Back in the real world, his body weakened, he was being tended to by several Demon Slayer Corps members on a platform.
His rescuer was Yushiro, who, under Tamayo's orders, had infiltrated the Demon Slayer Corps.
Among the Demon Slayers were also Tamura, one of the members Zenitsu had met at Natagumo Mountain.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Infinity Castle, Tanjiro Kamado, Giyu Tomioka, and Kyōjurō Rengoku, having regrouped, were sprinting towards a distant location. A crow had just delivered news that Aoki and Shinobu Kocho had defeated Upper Moon Two, and Zenitsu Agatsuma had defeated Upper Moon Six.
No Hashira deaths had been reported, the best possible scenario.
"We haven't encountered a single Upper Moon. Are we too far from Muzan's hiding place? I wonder how Aoki-senpai and the others are doing. We'll win this battle!" Tanjiro thought as he ran.
Just as he wondered why they hadn't encountered any Upper Moons, a violent pounding sound echoed from above their building.
The building shook violently, instantly putting them on high alert.
"What's that tremor? Is someone fighting an Upper Moon? I hope no one dies…" Tanjiro suddenly sensed something amiss. "Wait… something's approaching? What's this smell?"
"Above! Tanjiro! Retreat!"
Giyu Tomioka shouted a warning. Tanjiro instinctively took a few steps back.
The next second, the ceiling was shattered by a powerful force, and a figure landed before Tanjiro, creating a massive crater in the ground.
"Long time no see. It's quite remarkable that a weakling like you is still alive, Tanjiro Kamado!"
The figure swung a fist, a terrifying gust of wind preceding the blow aimed at Tanjiro.
Tanjiro recognized the figure, a memory he desperately tried to suppress flooding his mind.
Aoki, battered and bleeding from every orifice, lay on the ground, seemingly on the verge of death.
Rage consumed Tanjiro. Bloodshot eyes and a ferocious expression contorted his face.
"This guy… this is the one who injured Aoki-senpai…"
"Akaza!"
Upper Moon Three, Akaza, the Upper Moon who had nearly killed Aoki on the Mugen Train. Since then, Tanjiro had harbored intense hatred for Akaza.
On the Mugen Train, Akaza would have instantly crushed his skull. But now, things were different.
"Hinokami Kagura: Dancing Flash!"
Reacting swiftly, Tanjiro's blade sliced through Akaza's arm, severing it before Akaza's fist could land. The speed shocked even Akaza.
Giyu Tomioka and Kyōjurō Rengoku finally reacted, charging towards Akaza with their Nichirin Blades.
"Water Breathing, Fourth Form: Striking Tide!"
"Flame Breathing, Fifth Form: Flame Tiger!"
Azure water and searing flames converged on Akaza, who frowned, planting his feet firmly as he prepared to counterattack.
