Chapter 4 - System Loading

[System loading...]

A screen appeared before his eyes. There was only black text on a plain white screen.

"Sir!" one of the young students called out to Kowalski. "It says system loaded!"

"Good, quite fast. Your system's quick loading indicates your compatibility with the 'system.' This is separate from your classes and cannot be improved. For example, your system affinity affects the speed and power at which you acquire abilities. If the loading time exceeds 1 minute, you'll experience significant difficulties."

When everyone was announcing their systems had loaded one by one, Boran's system hadn't loaded yet. He thought if he mentioned that his hadn't loaded yet, others might think badly of him. So he kept quiet.

"Select 'Continue' with your mind. Try it, I'm sure you'll figure it out easily." While everyone was doing what they were told one by one, Boran's still showed [System loading...].

"Come on! Come on! Load already!"

"The window that opens will be where you choose your class. The class at the top will be the system's recommended class for you. But as I said before, you don't have to choose it. Look around, explore, read the descriptions. If you have any questions, you can ask me. Especially those who will be in close combat."

"It's recommending berserker to me! This is it!" said a well-built person.

"I wanted to be a mage, but it's recommending summoner. Actually, thinking about it..."

"Nen Master sounds really cool!"

"It's recommending Kunoichi... Some kind of ninja, I guess?"

Shadow Dancer, Slayer, Hunter, Blood Lord, Kaiser, Riftwalker, Skald... He was hearing dozens of class names he had never heard before from those around him. Students were asking Kowalski questions and discussing which class to choose. Everyone needed to think carefully as this choice would stay with them for life.

"I wonder if there's a way to restart it? Maybe it's frozen..." Boran said to himself.

Just then, a sound was heard. It was like the sound when you press "New Game" in any game. It had come from the well-built man. He looked somewhat... different.

His neck had become a bit thicker and the veins in the visible parts of his body had become more prominent. Compared to his previous state, he looked stronger.

"Congratulations on your choice! Now you need to distribute your stat points according to your class. I recommend choosing the suggested ones."

"I've already chosen, sir! I had researched Berserker extensively. I know everything!"

"Meeting young people like you who know what they want increases my faith in this generation! When you reach certain levels and meet some requirements, subclass options will unlock. These subclasses will give you more power and allow you to develop your class in the way you want." Later, everyone started choosing their classes one by one. They had already started discussing their stats.

"Damn this system! Come on! Come on! Come onnnn!"

[Loading complete.]

"Finally!"

He tried to mentally press the "Continue" button that appeared in the bottom right of the screen. But despite trying for a minute, he couldn't manage it.

"Why isn't this working?"

As he angrily waved his hand, he hit the screen that was supposed to be in his mind. He shook his hand in pain.

"How... Can we touch this?" he said to himself, then turned to Kowalski. "Sir! Is it possible to physically touch the screen?"

"No, you can't touch the screen. It's only visible to each person in their mind. That's why it's impossible to look at someone else's screen. Unless you can touch their mind." everyone laughed when he said this.

Boran pressed the "Continue" button with his finger. The screen in front of him suddenly disappeared and another screen appeared. At the top of the screen, it said "Class Selection." In the recommended section at the top was written "Tank." There was a very long-looking scroll bar next to the screen.

"There must be nearly a hundred classes! So exciting."

The system's recommended "Tank" hadn't even crossed his mind. He hadn't even noticed it was the recommended one at first. He immediately tried to grab and move the scroll bar. But he couldn't scroll down at all.

"Go down! There are lots of classes down there, I can see the tip of one!"

No matter what he did, he couldn't scroll down. His eyes remained fixed on the only class visible on the screen. Tank.
