Noa did not hesitate to leap out of the door as the carriage slowly trundled to a stop. Wobbling slightly due to her precarious landing, she took a moment to steady her footing.
“All right, let’s go,” she declared, turning confidently down the wrong path.
“Please stop wandering off,” Kyle sighed, catching Noa’s hand and pulling her back toward him with ease. A moment later, he registered the feeling of her small hand fitting perfectly in his. With a flinch, he hastily released her, avoiding her curious gaze.
“Let us proceed to find an inn for the night. Seeing your condition, it would be unwise to move any further today,” he suggested.
“But I feel fine,” Noa responded with a frown.
“You do not appear fine. It would be best to wash up and have a good rest,” Kyle insisted.
