Bewilderment flooded me as I distantly realized that my cheeks were damp with tears. Why am I crying? I hastily tried to wipe them away even as more continued to flow from my eyes. On the other end of the call, Kyle’s voice became more concerned as my answers grew increasingly incoherent. Curling my body inwards protectively, I barely even noticed when Miu started shouting into the receiver.
“Mister! Miu’s getting a sibling!”
A tense silence filtered through the line as Kyle seemingly processed the information. When he spoke again, his voice was filled with a mix of worry and joy. “Miss Noa, where are you right now? Miu?”
