I quickly took advantage of the opportunity to place more distance between us. That was a close one—I almost got swept away again. My cheeks still felt like they were on fire as I kept my gaze planted firmly out the window. Through the glass, I could see members of the Investigation and Security Bureau slowly making their way through the barrier.
“There is no need to extinguish the fire—it will not burn anything it has not been commanded to, so there is nothing to fear. First, guide those outside the hotel to the temporary police station and isolate the ones who have a crossed-out capital letter ‘R’ marked behind their ears,” Kyle directed, his voice echoing clearly behind me. “Next, have a team go inside the hotel to rescue the Harelle citizens in the rooms on the second, third, and fourth floors. Please escort them out of the building and see to their medical care. Do not touch Room 319.”
