The Lovers (I)
The year was 578, and spring had just begun coloring the continent in vibrant shades of new growth as the calendar marked the middle of March. Half a year had passed since the successful conclusion of the second phase of the Replica Project. The upper floors of the Harelle Workers’ Hotel were bathed in warm sunlight, illuminating the thousands of blueprints scattered across the wall. A miniature copy of the replica manufacturing process was being assembled as they prepared the space to become the main lab for their operations. Chalkdust calmly swirled in the air, creating a picture of peace, until—
“Are you really not going to end it here?” Adrian asked, cutting through the silence.
