“Wait, Sir Kyle—” I impulsively grasped the hem of Kyle’s sleeve as he started to move away from me. He chuckled slightly before dipping down to press another soft, brief kiss on my lips.
“Miu shall be here soon,” he whispered, gently smoothing my hair out of my face before standing. Dazedly, I watched his figure retreat as I distantly wondered what on earth had happened. The gesture had happened so naturally, without any acknowledgment from the detective. Was he just trying to comfort me?
A sudden gust of wind from the open window drew me out of my head. As I turned toward the balcony, my gaze met a familiar pair of burgundy eyes. My eyes widened as I took in the massive breadth of his head, already noticeably larger than he had been a few weeks ago. Still unaware of his own size, Miu’s limbs powerfully knocked against the wall, sending the precarious emergency ladder crumbling to the ground. A moment later, he transformed into his tiny, child-like form.
