Chapter 70 - Chapter 69

"Let me check the address."

Sophia suddenly realized she needed to update her delivery address.

Her warehouse was now finished, so things could be delivered directly to her home.

"Hold on, I need to change the address."

She quickly said that, ended the call, and went into her messages to update the address.

As for the warehouse in town, there was only about one or two months left on the lease.

Since she had some free time, Sophia decided to go over and check if anything was still left inside.

When she arrived, she didn't start inspecting right away.

Right by the entrance on the first floor, there was a note taped to the wall. It was something she had written before, listing the delivery schedule for different supplies each month.

Every Monday, there would be 30,000 jin of potatoes, sweet potatoes, and fruits and vegetables. Every half-month, there would be 10,000 jin of rice and flour. Below that were snacks that were easy to carry. Then there were items like well-drilling machines, excavators, earthmovers, and water tankers. These were sent from time to time depending on General Yves' team's needs.

"Winter coats and blankets?"

Right, Ronin had mentioned that the shipment had arrived, but she had completely forgotten.

There was nothing on the first floor, so Sophia went upstairs, and sure enough, there they were.

She opened one of the big woven bags to check. Inside were black winter coats, thick and fluffy, long enough to reach the knees. They had large hoods, zippers, and buttons.

She looked at the price Ronin had sent her earlier through messaging. Each coat was only sixty to seventy yuan. That price was really good.

Sophia smiled, went downstairs, took the pig trough from the car trunk, and started sending the items out.

General Yves suddenly got a message from Sophia saying she was sending over a batch of clothes. He was very happy and quickly called his people to get ready to receive them.

The woven bags were as tall as a person, about one and a half meters wide and about a foot high.

General Yves was confused. What kind of clothes were packed in such large bags?

After Sophia had sent everything, he told his men to open the bags.

Inside were tightly packed bundles, each with five coats. Every coat was in its own clear plastic bag.

When they opened one, the coat looked strange. It was kind of like a cloak with a hood.

"Try it on," General Yves told two of the servants.

The coat was easy to wear, just slip it on.

One person put it on while the other figured out how to fasten it. The buttons were easy, but the zipper took a while to figure out. The whole thing looked very interesting.

Once the zipper was pulled up and the buttons were fastened, General Yves and the others walked over to look.

"Commander, this coat is excellent. It blocks wind completely and feels very comfortable."

General Yves walked up with Assistant Hanra and the others.

"If we wear this while checking the borders in winter, we'll definitely stay warm," Assistant Hanra said.

Even though they weren't soldiers, since their leader was a general, they had to think from his point of view.

General Yves touched the coat. The fabric felt good, and it seemed to be filled with cotton. It wasn't packed very full, but it was enough to block the wind well.

General Yves nodded. "Send this batch of clothing to the military camp."

Sophia had said there were 10,000 coats. But there were already over 40,000 soldiers in the camp.

Ten thousand coats wouldn't be enough for everyone.

General Yves sent a message to Sophia. "If you have extra fabric, please send more. The people can make clothes themselves."

Sophia had just finished delivering the supplies and was messaging Ronin, "Ronin, now that our own warehouse is built, if there are any more goods, just send them directly to the village!"

After she sent the message, she turned and saw that General Yves had written to her.

"He needs fabric? That's easy to handle!"

With the same amount of money, the materials she could buy could make at least twice as many clothes.

"But from the way he's saying it, the padded jackets are meant for the soldiers, and for the common people, they're distributing fabric and letting them sew it themselves? That works too."

Sophia forwarded the list of needed items to Ronin, and both sides started looking for suppliers at the same time.

Besides fabric, they also needed cotton and sewing tools.

The clothes made for the common people could also be used for the soldiers.

The civilians could sew their own clothes, but for the soldiers, General Yves would need to find people to do the sewing.

"Well then, might as well help all the way to the end."

Sophia decided to include sewing machines for them too.

She went ahead and ordered a thousand old-style sewing machines that didn't require electricity.

Since metal parts were hard to make in ancient times, she also included the machine stands.

Each of these manual sewing machines cost about 700 yuan, so a thousand came to 700,000 yuan.

"Not too bad, not that expensive. At first, each person might only make three to five pieces a day, but once they're skilled, doing ten or twenty a day should be no problem."

Sophia began making arrangements.

Since General Yves had recovered those hundred tablets, she planned to load sewing machine tutorials onto them.

Meanwhile, Ronin went off on another business trip to handle the fabric and other supplies.

Sophia sent her full plan to General Yves so he could start organizing manpower.

With a thousand sewing machines, he'd need to find at least a thousand people to learn how to use them. That was about the size of a full-scale garment factory.

When General Yves read the letter from Sophia, where she wrote that a person could make three to five clothes a day using a sewing machine, he was stunned.

He couldn't understand how it could be done so quickly. He called for one of the embroidery workers in the mansion.

"I need to ask you something. Just answer truthfully."

The embroidery worker looked nervous and replied, "Yes, my lord."

"How long does it usually take you to make a piece of clothing?"

General Yves asked.

"If it's something simple, maybe two or three hours. For more complex ones, it might take a whole day or even two."

The woman thought carefully and answered in detail, "It depends on the type. For underclothes, which are simpler, it only takes a few hours."

When they were making clothes for nobles, they also had to do embroidery and extra details, which took several days.

General Yves now had a rough idea. He became even more curious about Sophia's machines but knew he would have to wait until they arrived to see why they were so efficient.

Assistant Hanra, who was with him, heard about his plan to hire embroidery workers to make clothes for the soldiers and said, "Commander, that will cost quite a bit."

"How much food do we have right now?" General Yves asked after thinking for a moment.

Assistant Hanra was a little surprised. "Commander, are you planning to exchange food for labor?"

General Yves wasn't annoyed. "We can stop the porridge distribution for now. Winter is coming, and it'll be even harder to survive than now. There was a drought this year, and many families have no food stored. They can't even go out to find food. This is the best solution."
