Chapter 176 - Chapter 176: Silver's Whereabouts

After Ace comforted Green, she began to explain the cause of the events.

The general situation was that Silver and Green, who had escaped together, would contact each other at regular intervals. However, this time, when Green tried to contact Silver, there was no response.

At first, Green thought Silver was just busy and didn't think much of it. But when half an hour went by with no one answering her calls, Green became anxious. Returning to Silver's temporary residence, Green found it empty. Based on the thin layer of dust on his belongings, he had been gone for many days.

This made Green truly frantic, and she began to search for Silver like a madwoman. But after three days of searching, Green found that Silver had vanished as if into thin air; she couldn't find a single trace of him.

In her desperation, Green thought of asking for help. The first person who came to her mind was Ace. As for Red and Gary, Green immediately ruled them out.

The reason was simple: Ace was the same kind of person as her. Although Red and Gary were her friends, their way of thinking was different from hers on certain matters. If she asked them for help, considering Silver's past mischief, Red and Gary might turn him in and have him locked up after finding him. Ace, on the other hand, would not, because Ace wasn't a "good guy." Their similar backgrounds meant Ace understood how Green and Silver felt.

After listening to Green's story, Ace furrowed his brows and fell into thought.

"If it's too much trouble, I can handle it myself…"

"When did you last talk? Where was Silver's last location?"

The two spoke at the same time, and Ace's question made Green swallow her words.

"Cinnabar Island."

Green said without hesitation, a wave of relief washing over her, knowing that Ace would help her.

"Sometimes, it's nice to have someone to rely on."

Green watched Ace pull out a map and start scribbling on it. For some reason, she felt a sense of calm.

"Cinnabar Island, huh? We'll make a trip there. I have a few theories I need to confirm." Ace put away the map and said to Green, "Let's go. We'll go together."

"Okay!"

Green's anxiety subsided, and she returned to her usual calm yet mischievous self.

Since they were looking for someone, Ace didn't bring too many Pokémon, only Aerodactyl, Crobat, Gible, and Lapras. Then, he took Green and flew towards Cinnabar Island.

Above Cinnabar Island, Crobat was carrying Ace by the shoulders, and Aerodactyl was carrying Green by the shoulders as they flew. However, they didn't stop, continuing their flight westward.

Ace had temporarily lent Aerodactyl to Green for flying, as her only flying Pokémon was the slow-moving Jigglypuff. Green didn't have the courage to ride the two birds, and would only be able to use them for flight after her ornithophobia was gone. While flying, Ace held up his arm, checking the coordinates on an electronic map as they headed towards their destination.

Soon, half an hour later, Ace and Green arrived at a small island that looked like it had been hit by a bomb. This was the former base of the Elite Four: Seafoam Island!

Looking at the ruins before him, Ace's eye twitched, and he silently marveled to himself: Only Giovanni could have caused this! The destructive power was astonishing.

The reason Ace came here was that after Green asked for his help, he suddenly remembered a detail: Silver and Lance knew each other. Ace racked his brain for more details and remembered that Silver had once been a part of the Elite Four's group.

This meant that after Ace had taken down the Elite Four, it was highly likely that Silver had returned to Seafoam Island or another of the Elite Four's secret locations to claim some of their belongings. After all, when a group falls so quickly and unexpectedly, a lot of good stuff is left behind.

"Gible, use Dig."

Ace looked at the ruins, opened a Poké Ball, and Gible jumped out, then dove into the ground like a diver. As dirt flew, a hole large enough for a person to walk through appeared before Ace and Green.

"Ace, what is this?"

Green frowned, unsure of what Ace was trying to do.

"This was the Elite Four's base." Ace turned to Green and said, "After the Elite Four disappeared, I investigated some things about them. Combining that with your brother's disappearance, I think it might be related to this."

Ace didn't reveal everything, but with Green's intelligence, she quickly understood what Ace was saying. Green fell silent, realizing that if Ace was correct, it meant Silver might have joined the Elite Four's organization.

Thinking of this, Green felt a sense of relief. She was glad she hadn't called Red and Gary for help.

Soon, Gible emerged from the tunnel, calling out to Ace. Seeing this, Ace immediately recalled Aerodactyl and Crobat. Then, he and Green followed Gible into the tunnel.

The tunnel Gible dug was very long. After walking for nearly five minutes, Ace and Green stepped into a partially shattered underground cave.

"Is this the Elite Four's base? It's too simple, isn't it?"

Green looked around and said with a hint of disgust, "It's not even close to Team Rocket's base."

"Don't say so much, let's just look around first."

Ace looked at the dim surroundings. Before he could do anything, Green released her Clefable. Clefable raised its finger, and a burst of light erupted, dispelling the darkness in the cave.

With illumination, Ace and Green moved a little faster. Seafoam Island had been hollowed out by the Elite Four, and the entire underground was like a huge maze, making it easy to get lost.

After wandering for nearly an hour, Ace and Green finally found a relatively open hall. At this point, they had truly reached the interior of the Elite Four's base.

Just as Ace was looking around, Green suddenly cried out, "I found it! It's Silver!"

Ace was stunned and looked at Green.

Green ran to a corner of the hall. Ace followed and found that the wall in that corner had many strange scratches.

Seeing Ace approach, Green pointed at the scratches and said, "This is information left by Silver's Sneasel. I can roughly decipher it. It's telling me his general location. This little rascal! What is he doing?! He scared me to death!"

With news of Silver, the heavy weight on Green's heart finally lifted, and she let out a sigh of relief.
