Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: Crobat, the Team Fight Powerhouse

After a good night's rest, Ace gathered all his Pokémon early the next morning, including the Exeggutor from the Berry orchard.

When the Exeggutor arrived, they were accompanied by a Dugtrio, the leader of the Diglett clan residing beneath the Berry orchard.

Hearing that something serious was about to happen, the Diglett living there, after some hesitation, chose to help Ace.

For no other reason than that the Berry orchard was perfectly suited for their lives. Moreover, they helped Ace loosen the soil and cultivate the tree roots, and Ace had promised them that once the berries began to bear fruit, he would give them half of the orchard's produce as their "salary."

As their interests were at stake, the Diglett, who could have simply watched from the sidelines, now stepped forward to help Ace.

This was reality. Ace didn't need to capture so many Diglett, but by tying their interests to his, these Diglett would fight for Ace.

There were currently three Elite Four members remaining, but they had nine types of Pokémon legions at their disposal.

These were Lance's Dragonair, Dragonite, and Aerodactyl legions.

Agatha's Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar legions.

Lorelei's Shellder and Slowbro legions.

While Bruno had temporarily left the Elite Four, his Machop legion should not have been disbanded and was likely under the control of Lance and the others.

A total of nine Pokémon types. Although it was a year earlier, Ace conservatively estimated that each legion likely comprised nearly a hundred Pokémon.

This meant that, not including the Pokémon held by the Elite Four themselves, Ace currently had to first withstand nearly nine hundred Pokémon before he could face Lance and the other two!

When Ace first built his house, he had already scouted the surrounding area.

Considering this, the first thing Ace needed to do was have the Diglett dig a large number of trenches and traps around the house.

Secondly, it was about the strategic deployment of his Pokémon.

Ace's cabin faced the sea, but near the sea was a sheer cliff. Ace thought that only Lorelei's Shellder legion could attempt a frontal assault from there.

As for the other three sides of the house, they were basically vast plains. Hiding anything there was almost impossible.

This meant that unless the opponent attacked from the front, potentially concealing some of their forces, Ace could instantly observe their movements from other directions and purposefully deploy his Pokémon.

"...So, that's the overall situation. As for personnel deployment, that will depend on which direction the opponent attacks from."

The pre-battle mobilization meeting ended, and the Pokémon began to act according to Ace's plan.

Ace, meanwhile, kept Crobat separately to begin training its new skill.

The skill Wings of Poison, simply put, meant that Poison Energy had transformed Crobat's body structure. Now, Crobat's four wings could secrete a large amount of venom.

Viscous venom adhered to Crobat's wings, covering them. As Crobat flapped its wings, poisonous rain would fall with Crobat's flight.

Ace's idea was very simple: it concerned the use of venom and the mastery of the skill.

The Wings of Poison skill, in Ace's opinion, had high controllability.

Firstly, there was the area-of-effect poisonous rain attack, which was wide-ranging and highly toxic, making it a powerful tool for group battles.

If this were to be varied, it would involve concentrating and compressing the venom, then using it as a single-target, long-range sniper attack.

As for further development, Ace could think of the issue of venom adhering to the entire body.

If the venom could adhere to the entire body and its solidity could be increased to form an armor on Crobat's surface, it could effectively block incoming attacks and compensate for Crobat's fragile build.

"If the venom solidifies for defense, then what about atomizing the venom..."

Ace thought about it and realized that choosing atomization would leave too many vulnerabilities.

Although it would expand the attack range of Wings of Poison, the reduced weight of the poisonous mist would make it vulnerable to countermeasures. Opponents could use air currents for reverse attacks, which would be completely counterproductive.

"A semi-liquid, semi-solid state would be the most perfect, but it's clearly impossible for Crobat to achieve such control in a short time."

Ace watched Crobat fly in mid-air, rapidly performing Wings of Poison to increase its skill release speed. He had already determined the direction for Crobat's subsequent training.

The plan was to pursue a solidification route, complemented by liquid venom. The ideal state would be for Wings of Poison to scatter a large amount of poisonous crystals, with concentrated toxic liquid hidden within them.

Spraying poison from the sky was too "low-tech," and fast Pokémon would have ample time to dodge the poisonous rain. Only in dense battlefields, where evasion space was limited even if the poisonous rain was seen falling, could the accuracy of Wings of Poison be improved.

In Ace's vision, when the poisonous crystals fell, being solid, they could utilize wind power to increase their landing speed, unlike liquid which would disperse if accelerated, preventing it from forming clumps.

After the poisonous crystals landed, their impact would break their surface, igniting the internal venom, thus forming a secondary attack method that would make it harder for opponents to escape.

As soon as he imagined that scene, Ace could envision it in his mind.

Crobat, like a bomber, would sweep across the enemy's sky, dropping large quantities of poisonous crystals that accelerated downwards, shattering and exploding upon impact with the ground. The splashing venom would form a secondary attack. Essentially, wherever Crobat flew over, enemies would be enveloped by venom and then collapse, groaning.

If that truly happened, and the opponent couldn't eliminate Crobat immediately, Crobat would show them what despair truly felt like.

To achieve the scene Ace envisioned, Ace began to help Crobat practice the mastery of Wings of Poison. He also purchased a manual on how to train Alolan Muk.

Ace didn't intend to train a Muk. Rather, Alolan Muk, by consuming trash, could extract toxins to form toxic crystals on its body surface.

So, Ace needed a systematic dissection diagram of Muk to observe the transformation process of its toxic crystals, to gain inspiration and see if he could apply similar methods.

As time slowly passed, Ace's preparations were gradually completed.

Crobat's practice of Wings of Poison was also nearing its end. Although it was still miles away from Ace's ideal, the poisonous rain that fell when the current Crobat used Wings of Poison had taken on a somewhat more defined shape, giving a sense of actual rain, rather than just a few droplets as it was at first.

On the fourth night after receiving the system quest, Ace was sound asleep when a bell on his bedside table began to ring violently.

Ace abruptly sat up, his eyes filled with coldness.

His alarm system had been triggered, which meant the Elite Four's attack had arrived!
