Miranda's POV
I didn't know how long I had been standing there, but after hearing the way they discussed me, I realized that Alpha Colton hadn't just locked me away—he was keeping me safe from psychopaths like them who wanted to turn me into an experimental pig.
"Miranda."
"Miranda!!"
Someone was calling out to me. The voice sounded oddly familiar, but it seemed so far away.
"Miranda!" the person called out again.
My body felt like it was on fire, but it felt good. I wanted to remain this way.
"Miranda!"
The person was still calling me. Wouldn't he just leave me alone?
"Miranda!"
Just this moment of peace… couldn't I have it?
I felt someone nudging me and then that same voice screaming.
Of course I burned, idiot! I feel so hot!
My eyes fluttered open against their own will and I gasped upon seeing the Alpha on the ground, writhing in pain.
"Alpha!" I rushed to him, but took a step back.
