Chapter 51 - Daughter of Dusk

Miranda's POV

It was too dark and cold and lonely for me to make out anything.

I tried to speak, but my lips refused to move. It was as though I had no more control over my own body. It was too dark, and it terrified me. I wanted someone to get me out of here.

"…she's nothing but a slave anyways," an unrecognizable voice floated into my head. It was a woman's voice, and she sounded angry. "Colton's just playing with her. He'll get tired very soon and see that I'm the one for him."

Playing with her?

Slave?

They were talking about me!

Silence.

Then a man spoke. "She might be a slave, but she's special, never forget that."

Laughter.

"Are you in love with her?" Her tone was laced with mockery. "You sound like you're in love right now, but I don't care about that. I want her out of my way!"

Their voices began to fade, as though they were speaking from far away. I tried to strain my ear if I could pick out any more words, but everything was cold, dark, and silent.
