Chapter 197 - Chapter 197: Ready to Leave

His void storage was no longer sufficient, and now he could use this opportunity to create several storage modules as spares.

Of course, besides making storage modules, he also needed to craft new amplitude crystals, especially enhancement crystals for the recently forged Rhino Warframe.

Enhancement amplitude crystals were extremely useful—Rhino's abilities would be greatly improved with them.

Under his control, the foundry worked continuously, and several storage modules along with a series of amplitude crystals soon appeared before him.

"This will make using Warframe abilities much more flexible."

With that, Marcus placed all the manufactured items into storage modules, then walked out of his room carrying the designed black combat suit.

It was better to give this to Clark as soon as possible, but the important points about using the suit had to be clearly explained.

After all, this suit's primary purpose was providing Clark with defensive protection. If Clark did something dangerous because he was wearing it, he could still get hurt.

"Clark, come with me to the barn."

Calling Clark over, Marcus took the combat suit and led him to the barn.

As soon as they arrived, Marcus handed the suit to Clark.

"This is a combat uniform for you. It has excellent flexibility—even when you grow up, you'll still be able to wear it."

"Today's not my birthday. Why is Godfather giving me a present?"

Clark was puzzled—it obviously wasn't his birthday, so why was Marcus giving him clothes?

"Heh, this isn't a gift. This is your training uniform. You'll wear this combat suit for future training to avoid damaging your regular clothes."

Under Marcus's explanation, Clark suddenly nodded.

That made sense!

His training was indeed affected by clothing, and some movements were difficult to perform while wearing regular clothes.

"Alright, go change and see if it fits."

Under Marcus's encouragement, Clark returned to his room with the combat uniform. After a while, Clark returned to the barn wearing black form-fitting clothing with an S-shaped logo on his chest.

Fully dressed, Clark was obviously excited. After putting it on, he found the clothes fit perfectly, and no matter what movements he made, he didn't feel restricted.

"This suit is amazing!"

Clark excitedly demonstrated Crushing Blow in front of Marcus. His movements were very precise, and he obviously felt much more comfortable.

Seeing Clark's satisfaction, Marcus nodded approvingly. It seemed the gear he'd crafted was working well.

"The combat suit can help you resist some dangers, but don't do dangerous things on purpose, or Jonathan and Martha will come after me."

Hearing Marcus's words, Clark stuck out his tongue, and the two looked at each other with smiles before returning to the house.

After staying on the farm for several months, Clark's combat skills had become very proficient under Marcus's training.

Throughout this time, Marcus had often taught Clark that even if he gained superpowers, he shouldn't talk about them—only tell his family.

Regarding Marcus's teaching, Clark nodded earnestly. Although he was young, he understood this was for his own good.

This particular day—

After Marcus and Jonathan finished the farm's final crop harvest together, Marcus looked seriously at everyone around the dinner table.

"I'll be leaving in a few days. I still have many things to handle, so I can't stay here indefinitely."

His words momentarily stunned everyone at dinner, then they all looked at Marcus.

"Leaving so soon?" Jonathan asked in surprise.

"Yeah, there are many things I need to deal with. Resting here for a few months has been enough." Marcus nodded casually.

After getting confirmation from Marcus, everyone at the table fell silent.

It was a while before anyone spoke.

"Godfather, when are you coming back?" young Clark asked.

"When you become an adult, or when you've grown up—I don't know when I'll be free to return.

However, you can't slack off. When I come back next time, I hope to see that you've mastered all the skills I taught you and created your own fighting techniques."

Gently ruffling Clark's soft hair, Marcus replied with a smile.

Although he'd recorded coordinates for different worlds, each world's time flow was different, and he wasn't sure how much time would pass before his return.

Clark nodded slightly and picked up his spoon to eat his cereal.

"When are you planning to leave? If you're leaving tomorrow, we can prepare a big farewell dinner tonight."

Martha asked softly. Marcus was their old friend after all—preparing a farewell party for him was important.

"Well... since you put it that way, I'll leave tomorrow!"

Seeing the smile on Marcus's face, both Jonathan and Martha laughed too.

The originally somber atmosphere from Marcus's impending departure became cheerful again.

The whole family got busy preparing a farewell party for Marcus.

Clark stayed home with Martha, decorating the house, while Marcus and Jonathan drove the pickup to town—they needed to buy supplies according to Martha's list.

Screech!

With the sound of brakes, a pickup truck stopped in front of the town's supermarket. Marcus opened the door and jumped down from the vehicle.

"Seriously, Jonathan, you really should replace this heap, right?" Marcus said helplessly after listening to the pickup truck make abnormal noises the entire trip.

On their drive, the pickup had creaked the whole way, making Marcus wonder if the vehicle was already beyond repair.

"It really is time to replace it. When Clark starts school next year, I'll retire this old thing!"

Jonathan readily accepted Marcus's suggestion—he also felt the car should be put out to pasture.

He and Martha had been driving this pickup when they'd met Marcus and found Clark's ship at the farm. That was several years ago now, and the vehicle had only gotten worse.

The two walked into the supermarket while chatting.

As the town's only supermarket, this store was basically no different from city department stores.

Everything was here—food, clothing, household items, transportation needs—anything useful was available.

Inside the supermarket, the two began shopping. Martha had asked them to buy many things, and Jonathan needed to pick up supplies for himself too, so time was tight.

"I'm telling you, Jonathan, it's time to replace that tractor too. Look around—you won't find any parts for that old machine."

Regarding Marcus's words, Jonathan didn't disagree. He knew it was time to replace it, but he still wanted to try finding something useful here to keep his tractor running a bit longer.

After shopping in the supermarket for a while, Marcus had already bought everything Martha had requested, then looked at Jonathan—his cart was also full of various tool parts.
